According to WATE, when the deputies arrived, Lien’s front door was open. The actress was naked except for a blanket on her couch, and told the deputies she was expecting them. Nonetheless, when she was informed of the warrant, the actress told them to leave her alone and that she wasn’t going anywhere. After repeatedly asking her to put clothes on, the deputies eventually cuffed her and dressed her in clothes from the jail. WATE reports that Lien refused to walk to the patrol car and had to be carried.

Lien, 41, also allegedly threatened to have the deputies killed.

TMZ reports that the alleged flashing stemmed from an argument with her neighbor outside her house. According to the site, Lien was angry that a child was crying because of a cut foot, and for some reason Lien allegedly showed her breasts and butt to the kids.

Lien has a history of legal troubles. In April, including a June 2012 arrest for domestic assault.

Margot Kidder had a steady descent in to mental illness, I think it was bi-polar. It's believed her role in Superman III was cut down to about 5 minutes because she was unmanageable (though there are lots of other stories about what happened there). She ended up at one point disappearing and wandering the streets, and was found hiding in the bushes of some guy's backyard.

She recovered though, so there was happy ending.

Apparently Lien is no stranger to altercations with the law. CNN says she's been arrested for domestic assault, aggravated assault, evading arrest, and resisting arrest.

Seeing people self destruct, no matter who it happens to, personally makes me sad.
I lived in a crack house(not because of drugs, but because it was the only place I could afford at that time in my life) for a few months and could line out tales of the different people that were there and how they ended up in that place. Some were there because it was a generational thing and they were just carrying on a family tradition, some because of mental illness, others, of course because it was a great place to find drugs and live with like minded people.
There were also times in my life where I worked with people who were highly intelligent and functional. Then one day their wires somehow got crossed from whatever trigger that caused it, physical or emotional, and it was like they were a totally different person. This is the one that really scares me because we don't know who among us would be suceptable to that happening.

TV Funhouse had a cartoon skit with Margo Kidder, Robert Downey Jr., and someone else as detectives who were looking for a lost dog, did their insane/drug fueled antics, and wound up killing the dog and eating it. I miss TV Funhouse.

Actually, I avoided article specifics because I wanted to see a wider discussion on the subject of celebrities self-destructing.

Amazingly, Amanda Bynes appears to be on the road to recovery now that she has been involuntarily committed to a treatment center in Pasadena.

I had an interesting discussion with someone about celebrities, especially child stars who go down the toilet. It's not a surprising thing to see happen with someone who is put on a pedastal all their young life with almost every whim catered to as long as the money keeps rolling in.
There has to be a great deal of anxiety building up, wondering when the gravy train will end.
Think about people like Michael Jackson, who from the time they were about knee tall, were mobbed by adults, and this was celebrated in entertainment media of the time. Imagine years of being grabbed kissed, and possibly fondled by adults you don't know in any kind of setting, mob or otherwise. Couple that with his documented family situation and ask yourself if it's any wonder he turned out like he did.

To add to your point the nature of the circles they travel in the entertainment business at that age is going to have a huge effect. I think I would lay money on the confines of the mouse not being that chaste.

I've read/heard that Kiefer Sutherland is a super funny/happy drunk... He was busted at one point and served a few months jail time for a DUI, and even admitted to dropping the soap in the shower.

He also had a run-in while filming 24 in NYC for allegedly head butting some fashion designer, though I think that was declared more of a public service rather than any kind of crime.

I think with her history and judging from her behaviour in this incident that she could possibly plead mental health issues to avoid jail time in exchange for treatment?

Not walking away free but it would definitely be better than jail as she does seem to be exhibiting behaviours that suggest mental health problems which should probably be evaluated and treated.

God, look at her now! She used to be pretty cute, and now...woof! Very sad also to hear about her potential mental health issues.
Of course, there are many celebrities who have gone downhill (other than lookswise), and many of them have already been mentioned. Some that I didn't see include: Macaulay Culkin, the Olsen twins, Wesley Snipes, and many others I'm not thinking of.
It's even sadder when they don't get help in time and end up killing themselves (RIP Robin Williams).

I would disagree, her every move was monitered by media. She couldnt do anything wrong. There was a controversy over her not wearing a seatbelt on a golf cart. She needed to appear and act squicky clean.

This. Disney controls a huge amount of its young talents private lives as one thing wrong and they're out. Look at how fast they dropped Vanessa Hudgens after her naked photos leaked.
