Anyone have any examples of mixed regiments they've either done themselves or seen others using? I've got loads of things I want to use with guard and since I cant narrow it down I thought i'd use a mixed regiment instead.
any help is greatly appreciated guys!

I'm sorry don't have one on hand, but I was planning to mix wargames factory shocktroops into my cadians (for price). I'd say if you were going to do it make a Platoon from each planet. I think the idea of a mixed regiment is really cool, and I can't wait to see it develop.

Not sure if it's exactly what you're after, but if you go back to 2nd edition and look at old battle reports and things, the studio army was very much mixed....

Thats pretty cool, i was considering have a solid core of vostroyans to form the back bone of my army, followed by a platoon orpossibly conscript squads of penal legionaries (made from mixing cadian and catachan bits and using the voctiroai miniatures conversion bitz) my veterans consisting of kilt wearing highlanders with the old ww2 style british pan hats or possibly chem masks with shotguns. and making my own stormtroopers from a number of kits so my army has a little bit of everything and everyone.

I use Tanith mixed with Mordians out of necessity.
There were no HWS, sergeants or non lasgun Tanith trooper figures.
It does make for a really odd effect, the camoflaged Tanith in cover and skirting the board whilst there's no way you can miss the Mordians.

I think anything can work and this doesn't sound too much of a mish-mash.
Something I think would help would be to try stick to a fairly limited colour palette across the whole army. This will go a long way towards making the force look unified and cohesive. Try stick to one main base colour and use the same accent colour across units, whether it's hats, insignia, body armour, etc. With kilted veterans, maybe try incorporate the tartan in little areas throughout the rest of the army (banners, coat lapeles, scarves, etc).
All sorts of ways you can create cohesion across different looking models.
Your plans sound good though. And Victoria's stuff is great.

It can work really nicely if you plan well from the beginning. I have a large desert themed army all painted a sandy biege colour. I use the bog standard Chadians as troops and Tallarn desert raiders as my veterans. Then I use Mordians as my officers and command squads as they look a bit smarter and also have some Catchecans in orange as some penal troops.
Currently I'm putting together a completely mixed unit as well using every different of guard I can find as a sort of 'dirty dozen'.
