Hey guys, any recommendations on good 40k novels with lots of action in them?
Thanks.

The Last Chancers are one of my favorites. I would say most if not all the 40k books I have read are mostly action and battles, I think more importantly what races/armies are you interested in?

Hard to find any 40K novels without action, but there's some really good ones that I'd recommend reading.

First and Only is probably my favorite BL novel (actually the first one I ever read, possibly the first published too if I recall). If you like that there's about a dozen novels featuring the same regiment, some great ones and some flops in that series, but overall very entertaining.

If you like Chaos/traitor legions I highly recommend Talon of Horus.

Blood of Asaheim and the follow up Stormcaller are solid SW novels.

The Mechanicus trilogy is also really good (Priests of Mars, Lords of Mars, Gods of Mars).

The Last Chancers books aren't very good in my opinion. They're a fairly weak take on the Dirty Dozen.

Aaron Dembski-Bowden is my favorite BL author, bar none. His books aren't generally bolter porn, but they're the strongest books from BL I've ever read. His Night Lords trilogy is excellent, Talon of Horus is equally good, and his Heresy books (First Heretic and Betrayer) are among the best in the entire Horus Heresy series. If you want something of his that's really heavy on action and lighter on plot, there's Helsreach, which rules.

I hear that the Night Lords and Ciaphas Cain books are good, but not sure how much action they have.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.
Number 1: That's terror.
Number 2: That's terror.

The Ciaphas Cain books have a lot of action and humor in them. The first omnibus is great, but the formula gets kind of tired after that if you ask me. The Night Lords books aren't as heavy on action, but they're heavy on character and drama. ADB said a while ago that he'd love to write a book where nobody fires a single shot; he writes great characters. He does action well too, but it's cool to have someone who doesn't just write bolter porn.

Have you tried the "Horus Heresy" novels? I've read the first 16 novels and I am fixing to start the next one. It's a really good series if you want something to keep you occupied for a while.
