Am I reading this correctly? Is Forgeworld supposed to be cheaper than GW now?

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

Erm, they've cost that much for a looooong time.

You are essentially buying 5 mounted character models, so it isn't an unrealistic price. A £20 box of dragon princes and a bit of kit bashing does a good job though l.

Even the metal versions were pricey. Now they are very hard to get ahold of. Unfortunately they are a must (they are just too good) have unit if you play death/vampire counts/undead.

Not only are these ugly they also cost more than most of the armies I have from other games...

Would it not be incredibly easy to simply buy some knights (I could buy here in NZ 48 multi part plastic knights for 200NZ), paint them red, get some bits and green stuff and have an army of blood knights for a fraction of the cost?

Thats insane. I did not even know they had such an expensive unit that was not made of characters.

Yeah they have been super expensive for a long time, and the move to finecrap didn't help.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Don't buy them. Buy Bretonnian ones and make them look evil. You can even get Bretonnian blood knights in the old fluff.

I rememebr when these came out, they were the first unit to make goldswords look cheap. Pretty impressive models though.

There is not this idea.

Suddenly I am reminded of the old batlord sets from lego.

You could convert knights, but normal knights from any army are pretty measly compared to the blood knights. Blood knights are bigger than chaos knights soooooo... just dont play at tournaments and you will be good.

-My young pupil... you seem to have this unholy addiction to Ultramarines. WE MUST TEST YOU FOR HERESY. -Inquisitor mean man
Ultramarine army- 10k
Imperial knights- 2
Vampire counts- 2k
Eternity King- 3k
Dark Eldar: Eternal Thorn 1300pts
And lots of other armies, I just cant fit them here

Most of Gw's stuff is a tad over priced, but they usually do have solid quality and detail. The blood knights though are the extreme example of an insane price point that is just not really worth it. This is one of those few times that if you were buying these you should go third party. Mantic's stuff is pretty garbage usually. However, their Undead Soul Reaver Cavalry is a good equivalent. In fact, I think they actually look a bit better than the GW version and they are only 15 pounds.

I dunno why you guys are even complaining to be honest. In Age of Sigmar everything is viable, the only consideration you should have on adding models to your army is if you like them, or if you like them enough to justify the price.

In this case, if they're too expensive for you, don't buy them. Vampire Counts have lots of great value kits too.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

The funny part is that Blood Knights released before the "Goldswords" did.

Plastic Greatswords came out in 2009.
Blood Knights came out, were sold individually at the same price point as a metal Archaon for each model, in 2008.

If you're interested in alternate vampire cavalry and you like awesome minis (that cost a little money), you might consider Gamezone's Mournful Knights. Tons of character and great sense of movement, and likely cheaper to Europe than the US

Honestly?

They were much the same as it is now; people ignored them in favor of cheaper alternatives.

Five of them costs about as much as three mounted vampires. Seems reasonable.

Love those models. I have the Vampire Counts army book and want to start an army for them but have to finish building my empire army and my Skaven (just painting really...and maybe another 60 stormvermin...okay it'll never be done)

Love the blood knights. Such awesome looking models and such awesome rules for (in 8th I haven't touched AoS yet) but they cost a metric butt ton of money haha I like the idea of dragon princes and just kit bash them with some spare parts from chaos stuff or the regular vampire knights
