I've been collecting a little bit and I am curious what you all think is a good place to go next with my guardsmen.

I currently own
Creed
60x Canadians on foot (various equipment)
3x auto cannon heavy weapon team
10x tempest scions
4x armored sentinel
5x leman russ (3 of which are magnetized, and one can act as Pask)
3x chimera
1x manticore
2x vendetta/valk

I am curious what models/units you other guard players out there find to both be fun and useful to play with that would be a good addition to the army

Mine went to ebay, but as a former IG player I just loved Hellhounds. They are hard to use because you have to screen them well, but the sheer terror they can cause your opponent is worth the hassle.

More seriously, what about something nippy like a Tauros or three?

I've been using the Militarum Tempestus codex and their Ground Assault Formation - it's 3 units of Scions, a Command Squad, and a Commissar, all mounted up in Tauroxes. They get twin linked and pinning the turn they disembark from a vehicle. Its been a really fun formation to use and I've had good results with it. There's a similar air assault formation that uses Valkyries instead if you wanted to go that route. It's been fun to have that run out and take objectives while a few mobs of Guardsmen and Russes provide fire support.

I think you've got a nice core IG force there.

Add a Knight Titan. or two.

Maybe some characters? You know, like regimental advisors, or an Inquisitor? I think it is a ton of fun to make up fluff and to convert characters like those.

Whatever you add, please don't add a Space Marine detachment. Let the humans sort their own problems out without relying on the glory boys.

Interesting how nobody's mentioned a Baneblade. I used one of those at a Games Day once. It was an entire army on its own. In fact there are so many exciting and devastating guns it's like an entire game on its own. The Demolisher cannon might have crap range, but it's the most satisfying weapon in the game. BOOM!

Super-Heavy tank, Knight, or just more of what you have. With IG you can always just add more.

What about some wyverns, priests for your blobs or a dedicated CCS?

A Shadowsword. At 450 points it is a bit pricey but there is nothing like the look on your opponents face when you drop the D on their big fancy unit/MC/GMC/Special snowflake character.

Take Basilisks. Don't attach the gun to the tank. Use the tank as a chimera, use the gun as an Earthshaker Carriage (it's FW, same rules as a basilisk but priced properly, and as an infantry borne immobile gun carriage.

And since it's infantry, you may issue it orders. Like, for instance, Ignores Cover.)

Or, and this is what I've been having tons of fun with, grab a couple Inquisitors. They just make Infantry Guard rock. Karamazov is everything I wanted out of my guard.

Wyverns! They are pretty much the best thing guard have point wise, 4 small blast the re roll to hit and to wound! A battery of 2 is devastating to just about every infantry unit in the game.

Has anyone tried adding some skitarii in with their ig? Seems like they would synergize really well

Got to say they are good. Wish I could afford some That said they are nothing compared to the might that is the Storm Sword. 36" range S10 AP2 10" blast with ignores cover. I have had opponents spend the entire game trying to kill that thing, even after they took out the main gun on the first turn and I failed to repair it even once. It is that scary that even if you are having piss-poor rolls your opponents will wet themselves and try to kill it fast.

I've decided to pick up two more sentinels to make both squads full 3. Also working on picking up 2 wyvern kits.

One of the bane blade variants will be down the road
