Seriously, a polish exchange student's breasts are as off topic as you can get.

Nay! Huge tracts of land is very much at the core of the discussion.

Sadly, Russia's ambassador may mistake that for a documentary.

How long was Bush out of power before people stopped blaming him for things when Obama was in office?

Hats off, Dakka!

Actually an appeaser in the White House has rather a lot to do with Russian adventurism.
Obama has been a lot less "appeasing" to the Russians than Bush was.

There's a lot of stuff you can rightfully heap on Obama, but this isn't really it.

So Bush told the Russians he'd have more flexibility after the elections on contentious issues?

Sure, and Bush could "see into Putin's soul", and took Putin on a personal fishing trip and all sorts of other stuff.

The fact of the matter is, US-Russia relations have not been as harmonious as they were under the previous administration.

Asia?
Poland is right in the middle of Europe (which is a horrible position to be in), what has Asia to do with it?

The line between Asia and Europe is rather blurry. But I was really referring to the various invasions Poland has dealt with over the centuries, both Asian and European invaders.

literally third post in, and it's Obama's fault

The OT will be boring, and it will be Obama's fault for refusing to become a dictator and get that third and permanent term in office.

It won't be boring with Hillary Clinton in office.

So during this fishing trip Bush told Putin he'd have more flexibility? Your evidence does not indicate this

My argument is that the current administration has had a far less friendly relationship with Russia than the previous one. Random mic pickups of leaders talking realpolitik is hardly solid evidence as to "appeasement", particularly relative to the actions and relationships of the previous administration which largely didn't take any more action against Russia than the current one does, probably less.

I don't recall sanctions on Russia under Bush, nor a concerted effort and driving down the prices of Russia's primary revenue generating export (energy products).

Russia also was not involved in Ukraine during Bush's tenure, and was not propping up a regime in the Middle East that the US was actively working against. If you want to ignore the role that events have had when comparing Administrations that is your prerogative. Russia has been more active globally under this Administration than the previous one.

Bush's fishing trip resulted in both leaders discussing many issues of common interest and resulted in them finding common ground in certain areas. It was not one leader saying to another essentially that if you don't rock the boat during election time I can do more for you after.

We seem to be evolving solidly into US politics territory (X was better with Russian than Y, no Y was better, etc etc), so unless we want to return to the actual topic I'll just lock this up and we can direct the conversation there.

Alternatively, Russia was as involved politically and economically in the Ukraine as it has always been. However Ukraine did not have a prominent westward looking element as it does now which Russia believes 'threatens' its hegemony in the region.

Butthurt much?
If that is worthy of a suspension, then surely the mods will have to suspend half of Dakka and probably themselves as well

But I do have to agree, Obama is no pussy. Obama may look wimpy and clumsy and not though and manly and glorious like Vladimir Vladimirovich, but, any man who willingly takes on a job like being president of the United States is not a pussy. US president is a seriously though job.

They didn't wait for bush to leave before people start blaming Obama. Just like every other president, no matter what no matter what they do, it happens every time. People get butthurt the horse they backed lossed and start blaming the new president for everything. Just becoase they never learn how to handle a loss. But, don't worry it not just the US and isn't just limited to government losses. Sports losses make people even more pissed.

Ehh....mmmm.... uhh....

It depends on how often you do it, but yes, that sort of post can get you busted, if you're a repeat offender. It also varies on how offensive the post actually is.

While this statement is so ludicrous that I want to challenge the claim that Obama was being blamed for events while Bush was in office out of respect for the moderator's wishes I am not going to engage in a tangent that may cause the thread to be locked.
