Wow...what's the deal with Russia? Are they totally trying to go back to the pre Gorbachov times? Do Russians really believe this ?

Any student of history knows that Hitler used a false premise for the German invasion of Poland. and that Hitler and Stalin had preplanned to carve up Poland between them selves. Not to mention the ,massive death toll that the red army bestowed on the Poles near the end of WWII.

I wonder how come obama hasn't told Putin that the 80's called and want their foreign policy back? He seemed so sure of it a couple years ago when he said it to Romney.

I like that side by side meme with Putin riding a bear through a river and Obama is riding a my little pony through rainbows.

Russian historians consider the war to have started in 1938 and the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact to be a direct reaction to those events.

I should imagine the Chinese see things differently as well.

I don't remember Russia behaving so badly back when W. was in office.

It is kind of relevant, and I wonder if this is a calculated move to continue the backwards moving rhetoric of the Putin administration.

Because Russia acting weird doesn't make them the primary Geopolitical threat the US faces?

They had their fair share of issues, but really, most of this kind of thing is playing to internal Russian audiences anyway.

I do.

Putin has been regressing Russia from the get-go. I don't really think that the US presidents (Clinton, Bush, or Obama) have had much to do with it, personally.

On Topic, though: that s--t is just baffling. Why even say that? What goal does it achieve? Like Holocaust Denial, it's so in the face of established history that you couldn't even hope to sway public perception at this point.

Actually it hasn't considering Putin has been fething things up in the region since forever. That also doesn't change the fact that an ambassador saying something we all know is stupid doesn't have feth all to do with Obama.

But please, carry on with your Putin mancrush!

Obama has been a lot less "appeasing" to the Russians than Bush was.

There's a lot of stuff you can rightfully heap on Obama, but this isn't really it.

The OT will be boring, and it will be Obama's fault for refusing to become a dictator and get that third and permanent term in office.

Blame the next Democratic president, because the GOP won't be sniffing the White House for a long, long time barring complete incompetence on the part of the Dems. Their party is in disarray at the national level, and all the demographics are trending sharply away from them.

Can't blame them for sounding desperate and bitter, honestly.

My family's first foreign exchange student was from Poland! Sadly, she moved back there. Just hope it's not permanent. Dark haired beauty with two serious...blessings. Got to have dinner with her a year back when she visited NYC briefly.

Has nothing to do with the article. And I don't care.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Sergei Andreev accused Poland -- which lost the highest proportion of its population in the conflict -- of "blocking the creation of an anti-Nazi coalition" which made it "co-responsible for World War II".

Two things:
Fistly, The Soviet Union did actually try to form a coalition with Poland against Nazi-Germany, but Poland withdrew from negotiations after strong pressure from Germany and Finland. So while there would have been a chance to avoid or greatly change the course of ww2, I don't think you can blame Poland for WW2. Poland was merely trying to avoid conflict, they failed, and in hindsight their policies may have actually helped the German decision to invade (and they certainly caused the Soviet invasion), but at the time, they could not have known.

Secondly, Poland is not the country which lost the highest proportion of its population. That was Belarus. Every fourth Belarusian died in WW2.

Asia?
Poland is right in the middle of Europe (which is a horrible position to be in), what has Asia to do with it?

Firstly Russia wanted free reign to send and station troops wherever it wanted in Poland (something I am sure you can appreciate Poland would not be happy with). Secondly, it was not Poland that negotiated to split Europe between Germany and Russia in the event of a war, securing Hitler's Eastern flank...

Seems like some things never change. This is pretty much how their actions in Ukraine are justified.

From the Soviet point of view, the only thing important was creation of a buffer zone between itself and Germany. After failure of creating buffer zone through coalition with Poland, Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was the only way to ensure the buffer zone.
I can imagine Poland would not have been happy in allying with the Soviet Union (having fought themselves free from centuries of Russian rule just 20 years earlier), but in hindsight, it might have been better if they had swallowed their pride and suspicions. But that does not mean you can blame Poland. Ambassador Andreyev is nuts if he thinks that. He clearly not the right choice for being ambassador to Poland.

It is literally a russification of the Latin word ceasar.

But Putin is no tsar, he has no legitimate claim to the throne, and also not the ambition. Panslavism is long dead also.

Which is entirely different to what you originally said where the implication was blame was almost entirely laid at the feet of Poland for not bowing down to Russia... while ignoring entirely how Russia then went an made a deal which effectively enabled Hitler to feel secure enough in the East that he could kick off "operation blonde hair and shiny jackboots"...

Is this related to the Poles saying they were going to wall in Kaliningrad and IIRC the Russians making a sidways comment about invading Poland a few months ago? I'm sure Russia's bullying its other neighbors just as much as Poland though, and certainly not just as a front against the ramping up of EU/ US support to the region.

Frankly given the state of the bull that the Russian government shoveling out we can expect to see this topped sooner rather than latter.
