What's the worst injusry you've sustained associated with wargaming or modelling in general? Mine was when I put my hand down on a piece of AoS scenery, only to find that it had spikes... Blood for the blood god.

When I was a kid, I was trying very hard to cut through a piece of blister plastic with an x-acto knife. Can't remember the reason. Went through the plastic and half of my thumb, as well.

Stanley blade through the top of my ring finger on left hand.
Took most of the nail with it :(
Into A&E, couldn stop the bleeding, had to get a local anaesthetic and then got vasovagel syndrome.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard. |

I have drilled into my fingers with a pin vice, also many exacto mishaps... Luckily, nothing deeper than 1/8", and superglued shut.

Far too many to name
Cut the tip of one of my fingers off when cutting a model with a pair of kitchen scissors(!) when I was younger and first starting out in this hobby. Good start there.
Picked up a scalpel blade off my painting table (thought it was simply a empty bit of paper that the blades come in, but it had an unused blade in it) and crumpled it up in the palm of my hand. Yeah, you can see where this one went.
Numerous slices to my fingers which in turn make it incredibly difficult to access PDAs at work (they're accessed with a fingerprint scanner).
Finally, my most horrible wound, which was sustained when I was slicing something with my leg on my lap. I did this about 6 years ago, so it's all healed up now. I took a bit of a chunk of flesh out of my leg. This is it now. That little depression in the middle of the pic is where I sustained said injury.

Something similar: I had a hobby scalpel in the side pocket of my bag at uni, during a lecture. The bag was resting against my leg, and when the class ended I went to pick it up. It wouldn't lift. Something was holding it down. I looked, and the scalpel, point up, had cut through the pocket, through my jeans, and was hooked in the flesh of my leg. Never felt it...

I was trimming flash off some resin bits for my GK conversion one night after the wife went to bed (I worked nights @ the time). It was rather late & I was getting sleepy. I was in my boxers & things were.. how should I put it.. 'hanging loose'. I use a Testors X-acto knife, the handle is all metal & it has a bit of weight to it. Brand new blade too.
I finished the last piece & the blade was angled down & the knife slipped out of my hand - again, point down, sharp side away from me - and buried itself into my scrotum between the boys.. I screamed & jerked causing the handle to fall forward, creating an incision about a 1/2" deep & 1" long as it fell forward.
Worst part was the local anesthetic they had to administer to the area for the 4 stitches. Dr. said I was lucky I didn't sever any of the working parts & give myself a home vasectomy.
I don't model w/o pants anymore.

You don't understand how lucky you are.
On other notes, I almost died a month ago. I was home from school, cleaning mould lines with my knife. So, I'm heading to another room to get a sprue, when I suddenly trip. I'm holding the knife blade down, so I trip and cut myself in the wrist, about 0.5 cm deep. If the knife had shifted justa centimeter or two, I'd be dead now.

I was so shocked and scared, I couldn't even scream. I opened my mouth to, but it was just a slight high pitched whine.
Sad part is, I was more afraid to wake my wife up than anything. Strange how your mind works when it goes into shocked overdrive like that.

Sheer panic is the killer mate. Good job on waking the missus though, she would have been shocked but coherent and able to call 999 or 911 or whatever.
My skinjob was alone and definitely the panic set in. I tried to stem the wound for ages and then realised, "oh gak, Im in real trouble here, better call A&E"

I've never injured myself terribly badly while modeling, other than poking myself with a sculpting tool (and it didn't bleed or hurt that much). One question I have: several of you mentioned A&E. I'm not familiar with that abbreviation other than a cable TV channel here in the U.S. Is it a British term for the paramedics or something?

Whilst pushing a new scalpel blade on using a pair of pliers to grip the blade, the pliers slipped which resulted in me slamming the scalpel into my right index finger.
The blade was stopped by my bone. I ended up severing one of the 4 main nerves that run down the finger. It feels like I've got an elastic band wrapped around my finger.
There was a lot of blood.

The worst I have self inflicted was when I was cutting some plexiglas with a bandsaw. A dull bandsaw with a 24" flywheel. Apparently the blade had a bent tooth (there was a tell tale clicking as it was cutting that II didn't add together at the time) that eventually snagged on the plexi while I was cutting it. Now mind you I had my hand well on either side of the blade and it was starting to bog down a bit due to hearing of the plexi and a build up of melting plexi dust. I pressed a bit harder and click click click POP... The plexi broke and the blade immediately followed the path of least resistance, right into my finger. Before I could react my finger got caught by the blade and pulled into the bandsaw. Knowing I could not stop the blade quickly (it takes around a minute to stop due to the large flywheel), I simply pulled my finger out. It had cut right down the center, putting a groove right through the bone nearly to the knuckle. At the time the only thing I did was exclaim a single expletive and wrap it tightly after cleaning it out. I was missing a full mm of kerf from the center of my finger... Needless to say my fingernail has never grown back quite right.

I have had a lot of bad ones that all should have had stiches, but never got them. The worst one was many years ago. I was working on an old Rhino and was trying to get the broke exhaust stacks off of it. I was holding the model in my left hand and trying to pry the part off with the hobby knife. The part came off and my right kept going, ended up with the whole blade in the web of my left hand. Some blood, a loss of blood nap and a lot of duct tape later I didn't touch that model for week.

I was hacking through some ForgeWorld resin sprue - rather stupidly - with a knife instead of using a saw. Of course, I needed to but a huge amount of pressure on the knife to push it through the material.
Suddenly, the resin gave way and I cut most of the way through my right little finger. I rushed to hospital and had it sewn up. Scar almost all the way around and the second joint doesn't bend so far anymore.
Always use a saw when cutting through thick resin, kids.

Hmmm...
My injury greatest hobby hits:
1) Tiny shim-like table-saw blades on dremel tools should only be used with the part in a vice: cut 1/4 way into thumb holding part when it grabbed (like nothing was there). Hospital and stitches.
2) Blob of crazy-glue got onto my cotton shirt on the chest, thought nothing of it: then got a burn! Turns out it is a nasty chemical reaction. Was like trying to remove napalm. Still got a scar.
3) Put new blade into hobby knife, carefully held it away from me to go sit at bench, somehow turned perfectly to stab it to the hilt into my thigh. Hospital and stitches.
4) A single brass rod for a tank antenna not filed down or capped is bad... not paying attention, go to place hand on it a wee bit fast... rod poked out other side of hand. Exciting!
5) Had a HECK of a time where two metal parts just did not want to crazy glue together. Was so busy concentrating holding the bits together did not notice 3 fingers well coated in crazy glue. Bond decided to work VERY well after that. Removed skin on tip of finger onto part, 3 fingers needed a couple hours of prying under hot water to release.
6) Was using a pin-vice to drill on a bit of a slope, had it slip, went 2/3rds of the way up my middle finger fingernail. Hurt more than all the other wounds.
There, not too brutal but silly all the same.

Had my #1 x-acto handle (with pointy #11 blade) roll off my desk and go thunk into the top of my foot (I was barefoot and didn't think to move them out of the way).
It went in about an inch - missing bone, tendons, ligaments and anything vital. It was also a fresh blade, so a clean cut. It was removed and disinfected and a plaster dressing applied.
I've stood on my soldering iron (also barefoot) - leaving a blister 3" long on the sole of my foot.
Those are the worst two. I don't count the numerous criss-crossy scars on my thumb pads or too numerous to count drill bit stabbings into fingers.
