Do these guys look like space marines or what? I might even be convinced to give 40K another try, if we could play using Lego!

Yeah no, GW does like to pick on companies that can kill them in court cost alone.

To paraphrase 300- Pray GW are that stupid. Pray we're that lucky.

To watch something like that unfold in court would be something to experience.

I guess if "looks nothing like space marines" = "looks like space marines".. Then yeah I suppose these are similar? Lots of games have sci-fi soldiers wearing armor.

Yes, if GW took on Lego there would be nothing but a smear of Space Mariens etc left on the IP legal train tracks after the case.

It's not even a sci-fi setting. The video in the link make it out to be a fantasy world with these guys riding around in their castle.

Seems to me like GW just got a new large scale promotion for free!

Nothing there GW would chase. The imagery is similar in some respects (and I would imagine GW was at least a partial inspiration) but GW don't chase any other not-SM lines and I don't see that changing.

I'll take a closer look when my sons next birthday rolls around next year. His Lego Police Station/Ice Base/Beach house City could probably do with more bad guys!

GW's lawyers may be pretty poor examples of the breed, but they're not COMPLETE idiots. They know darn well LEGO would smash GW in court... and have no interest in seeing their rice bowl bankrupted. That's why they always picked on small companies in the past.

Look more like sigmarines to me.

Lego and GW are very similar companies in a lot of ways. There's a great documentary on Lego made earlier this year, shows the process for getting employed there as a product developer and how it's kinda like joining a cult. Reminded me so much of my induction at GW.

I'm totally going to buy dozens of these, build a SM force, bring it to the next tournament, and make sure a friend of mine is there to snap a pic of my opponent's face as I start to set up.

Just kidding. I don't play in tournaments. But I am going to lobby Lego to produce a Chaos Nexo Knights, so I'll have Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines to play with. Even that dude with the wide shoulders could totally be a terminator! I've never liked Lego more. OK. Also kidding. I'm sort of a Lego nut.

But these are cool.

Now if only GW products appreciated like LEGO do. Instead they aren't even worth MSRP while still in production, and only super old sets see any value increase beyond 30% below MSRP.

Meanwhile I saw a gen 1 Boba Fett minifig go for like $3k on ebay a few months back.

But, honestly, LEGO would eat GW alive.

Exactly.

And after the nonsense GW went through with shoulder pads during the CHS case, I doubt they'll raise even the smallest of objections.

I'm afraid I've lost the origin of the quote, but isn't there an official statement in a financial document by GW's CEO that said, almost literally, "our litigation strategy is based around exercising our rights against small companies that lack the means to go to court"?

Not even close, but I would dearly love GW to sue Lego and for Lego to countersue to lock GW into litigation that they cannot escape.

Trust me, if lego was a small lil company and not the billion dollar powerhouse that it is, GW would have already sent them a CD letter. Lego could buy out GW 20x over.

Got a chuckle out of me, I'll admit. I do think that, if painted gold, they'd be pretty passable Sigmarines.

Also, LEGO designs have apparently gotten a lot crazier since I was a kid.

!@#$ it.

I fell in love with THESE guys to the point where I'm back into my evil 13 year old child mode, and I snatch them up at least 2-3 times a week.

I downloaded Brickwars, and am having a field day with it. Ninjas, superspys, crocks, sleestacks, ghosts and goblins, and the pirates...... mmm.....

I had a gak load from my old kids toys, and then you add in two children who grew up too fast... Gak, yeah, we got us some legos.

Not a real fan of those "New knights", but there are a few of those baddies in that range that need to get into my belly. That range looks a little... Odd, even for Legos. Not odd in a good way, either.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

My point was that they have picked on smaller companies for much, much less. The use of the word 'Lammasu' was my favourite, it only predates Games Workshop by 5 millennia.
