Do you usually base before or after you attach the model? I always base after attaching, for two reasons:
- I can't be arsed to pin every model's feet which I would need to do if I based first
- It looks a bit weird to me with the model's feet "hovering" on top of the base material.

I do basing after I attach the model. this way they are glue to their base and there is no base material between the model and base.

I make bases 300 times faster if I do them without the mini. See my gallery for some samples.

Making room or dents where the feet are is pretty easy for most bases.

I use plastic cement that dissolves a bit of the plastic feet so they fit in better.

Of course some bases require to be done around the mini. E.g. swamp or water bases.

After unless it's got solid elements like rock or props.
I feel very similarly about joins and hovering.

Depends on the model for me. If I'm doing a bunch of ork boyz I'll just stick them on the base. If it's something I put a lot of work into and want more control over the basing elements, i'll pin it.

Depends on the base/model for me, as well. Simple grit basing for a slotta-based model is always done first and primed together. A more complicated model may need to be painted separately, so I may as well do the basing separately, too. I've yet to tackle basing so complex that it would be the deciding factor in the separate processes, but things like cast resin for clear water/swamp bases and the like would certainly make me do so.

Yeah, depends entirely on what I'm doing on the base.

For regular sanded bases, absolutely attach the model first.

For anything with build up or flat detail, the base will need to be constructed first.

It depends on the model.
I am in the process of aquiring some clear resin bases.
They will be used from now on.
But for my Nomads, mostly Bakunin all have Desert paint schemes.
So I have a stack of already finished up bases ready for use.
Then it is simply cutting of the tabs and pinning the lil feth to my base..
My ALEPH and Pan-O will be on clear bases..

I may be an donkey-cave, but at least I'm an equal oppurtunity donkey-cave...

I... actually don't know. Help?

For my Space Wolves, I glue the mini to the base, add PVA and sand, prime, and then paint. A lot nicer than pinning
