This item is hardly news to most of you, but I think I've hit my hard cap on this bullgak.

I don't get what the problem here is. Are you forced to only buy battle forces or something?

It's the same price as the box it replaced, but with three less bikes. If that's not the problem though, I don't know what is.

What!
That is more than 10 pounds per miniature! The previous battleforce was okay pricewise, but this is insane.
It is that Privateer Press and Hawk Wargames aren't any cheaper, but else I would have given up too.

The individual models aren't any cheaper...

About £5 then, so I could buy Primer for them xD

The fact that they removed three bikes and didn't pass on the savings makes me laugh...but really I wouldn't expect anything less from GW.

I'm confused.

Why would you not just buy multiple Dark Vengeances.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

If the RW Upgrade Pack is the same as the RW Accessory Pack you save exactly 4 pounds. That's actually very generous considering it's GW we're talking about.

Different units.
Dark Vengeance has a Tactical Squad (full 10 guys with Plasma Pistol, Gun and Cannon), Deathwing Terminators (5 guys, 1 Chainfist and an Assault Cannon), Ravenwing bikers (3 guys, Bolt Pistol, Chainsword and Plasma Gun), Power Armor Librarian with Force Sword and a Company Master. All are the "snap fit" models.
This has Black Knights/RW Command, Attack Bike, RW Upgrade Spue and Land Speeder. All are the actual kits.
Certainly seems like DV might strictly be better value for money but if you want an Attack Bike, Black Knights or a Land Speeder/Sableclaw...

Then again, maybe I'm just a sucker since i bought this kit, admittedly at a discount from Gifts For Geeks.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.

So buy DV, sell off the CSM portion and put it toward this.

Four bikes and a Speeder is a battleforce now?

Christ on a crutch, that's getting...silly.

The battle force comes with the Ravenwing Upgrade sprues so individual cost of all the kits is £74, meaning the battle force is saving you £14.

Granted, this is still expensive per model, but you can't complain that the battle force box isn't a decent saving. Leaves you with plenty of bits for upgrading standard space marine bikers into Ravenwing, Sableclaw from a land speeder, and bits for other vehicles.

And when you click "Read More" you realise you missed this:

this one comes with an assault cannon, a heavy flamer, a Typhoon missile launcher, a multi-melta and a heavy bolter. Also included is a Ravenwing Upgrade Frame, meaning this kit contains literally hundreds of components.

But who needs upgrades, DUH!

Don't forget that it comes with a new box cover so you can impress all the other hobbyists that you're expanding your collection of GW products, which is the most important aspect of miniature wargaming.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

The tactical marine box comes with hundreds of components, because they split the limbs up into so many pieces...

And I really cannot see how a unit of bikers and a landspeeder constitutes a battleforce. Maybe if this were an unbound skirmish game with some balance...

In what I see nothing wrong. I still use the pieces that left from my tac squad and I use heads and parts for my conversions.... However I was talking about upgrades here from which saves you ~15 paunds.

Well that's just GW being misguiged. Ofcourse they didnt mean a full ~2000 DA battleforce. But I admit, removing 3 bikes and giving us this sounds like cash grab Anyway, you can always prowl for discounts or like I said China

While this box is a little silly, aren't we supposedly getting a Tau vs. Ravenwing box in a similar manner to Dark Vengeance, so there will probably be cheaper options?

I'll pluck you like a flower.

The original box came not only with 6 bikes, but three copies of the DA upgrade sprue. But don't let facts get in the way of being condescending!

I'm not complaining though, I just sold a NOS version of the old one for the same cost as this new one.

I would like to mention that technically you can make a legal Battle Forged army out of this box.

I haven't heard of this, there's previews of Tau and Raven Guard put against each other but if this is true...

Yeah, there are pictures of it in the Tau rumor threads. It even has pictures of a melee between a Tau ethereal and a mustache on a helmet.

How many points would this round up to? I originally thought the battle force boxes were supposed to aim for the 500 point range.

The minimum for a Ravenwing Strike Force is 1 HQ and 2 Fast Attack.
Build the Land Speeder as Sammael on Sableclaw and there's your HQ.
Build the Black Knights as a Black Knight Squad (not Command Squad), that's 1 Fast Attack.
The Attack Bike is the minimum for an Attack Bike Squad, there's the other.
It's a tiny and pathetic army but I though it would be worth mentioning anyway.

Savageconvoy wrote:Yeah, there are pictures of it in the Tau rumor threads. It even has pictures of a melee between a Tau ethereal and a mustache on a helmet.

Does that really confirm that it's Ravenwing though?

Savageconvoy wrote:How many points would this round up to? I originally thought the battle force boxes were supposed to aim for the 500 point range.

With the most expensive options for these kits, about 445 points if I'm not mistaken.
