You all have some valid points, but what I meant is that whatever you do you will spend less money by buying this, if you buy them seperate... And If I am aiming for a fast move and hit army list I will definately consider this.

I sell turds for 100€ each. If you buy three at a time, they'll cost you only 250€. It's an amazing discount. I'm really really generous, you should applause and love me dearly.

Progress is like a herd of pigs: everybody is interested in the produced benefits, but nobody wants to deal with all the resulting gak.

GW customers deserve every bit of outrageous princing they get.

The fact a day before the box had more models for the same price, maybe.

I wouldn't either, but you asked why. Not if people wanted it.

To be honest, i'm waiting till GW sigmarifies 40k. This way, we'll finally get together and write our own rules that are better like the 9-th age guyz did. And also, the market would get flooded with cheapo minis from people who simply give up on 40k.

In the annual report they talked about introducing a series of lower-price point items for sale. Maybe this is their way of doing that, removing model content so it appears to be better value for money?

I haven't heard of this, there's previews of Tau and Raven Guard put against each other but if this is true...

I think by "lower price points" the mean sales pitched for under £20.

So boxes of one or two minis, realy.

The old DA battleforce was a great way of adding bikes to any marine army. 6 bikes, one attack bike, 1 (old) speeder, and 3 RW accessory sprues for IIRC $110. As the bikes were the old crappy ones, they didn’t have any of the DA stuff sculpted on them. Even not counting the RW sprues, it was a good deal. You basically got the speeder for free, and there were some bits on the RW sprue that could be used by non-DA players.

The new box is much more army specific. The bikes are not the old, universal ones, but the fancy DA ones with all the whistles and bells. Much better looking IMHO. From the description, the speeder should be the new one as well, as the old one didn’t come with a HF option, and that’s listed on the website. So while the numbers are down, the quality is up. And the price did drop a little, so it’s not the same price (at least in USD) The units are also not as good for bulking out your army. Although if you are primarily building via the DV bikes, these guys should match better then the old ones.

GW's prices are an utter joke, and at £12 per model when the models themselves are at best mediocre compared to what is out there.... Forget it. I am not being robbed by that blasted company for anyones sake.

I have 6 of the old RW battle force boxes two of the new ones. The old ones were a good value, which is why I bought 3 more when they discontinued them. But the new ones are about the same value.

The thing is you aren't just getting 3 less bikes for the same price. The old battle force came with very bare bones bikes. Outside the RW upgrade sprue. These bikes are RWBK/RWCS, have many more bits and options, and you also get a few more options for the LS. The newer LS is also better to build IMHO.

Yes you get 3 less basic bodies, but you get more options and such. Basically, you are still getting about the same amount of plastic.

The downside is, you can't use this to spam generic SM bikes. But as I have always played DA, and got 6 of the old kits, these are better for me, so meh.

So what you're saying is that the new kit is great, if you already have a bunch of the old kit. Good to know

At least they're not pretending to be able to attract new customers. Even a couple of years ago, it was nearly impossible to justify these costs to a new player. Now I have to hide the prices of the stuff I have.

It's becoming much easier to continue/start a 40K army with never buying new from GW. Like others brought up: Ebay, Craigslist and certain other Chinese companies are out there.

Speak to GW with your wallet. Simply don't buy the new kits.

No, I'm saying the new kit has comparable value. It's about the same amount of plastic/parts. Just the old kit could be used by any space marine player to cheaply build up their bikes because they were generic bikes + RW upgrade rather than the RW command/black knight kit.

If you are doing it per model I could see how 3 less models at same price would seem bad. It's really less six bare bones bikes then + RW kit, which has more parts and options.

This isn't to say that I agree with the price in general. It was more to adress the new vs old battleforce for value.

Happy to say I was able to score one of the originals a while back. Go GW! Remove 3 bikes and keep the price the same. Smh...

On the plus side my friends and I never stopped playing Epic 40k and I still have large Ork, Space Wolf and Chaos armies supported by plenty of titan and gargant goodness.

GW has always straddled the line on pricing. There are many sets that sell everything together for the price of whatever it would be to buy the models individually - offering no savings for making that kind of purchase. This is nothing new.

As for 40k no longer working as a skirmish game, I beg to differ and find it significantly better as a skirmish game! To each their own though.
