Slowly building up to The Chamber Unleashed Battleplan, so needed some reinforcements for Khorne to stand up to the Extremis:

Those Khorne dogs look great on round bases. Cool paint scheme too.

A lot of good work in this thread. I converted this piece because I wasn't sold on the new Stardrake and I've always wanted to paint up the Empire Griffin. The base has since been completed, but I am going back and working on the armor a little more.

That model is quite striking!

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Holy smeg, that is an awesome idea! How hard was it to get what looks like the starter set Celestant on the Griffon?

Not as hard as you'd think. I used parts of the Celestant's saddle and then connected it to the griffon using some sprue that I pinned in place. I then green stuffed it so it looked like a continuous metal piece. The lower legs are taken from the Retributor Prime from the starter set - I bought two sets, so the other two are now part of a five man unit. The hardest part was getting everything positioned so if looked right.

Awesome conversion there, Vash! The tempestos hammer looks more feasible to use (for the weapons' reach I mean) than Karl Franz with Ghal Maraz I think

@usernamesareannoying: yeah, you don't fully appreciate how big Deathclaw is, til you see him on the table lol. Or even better, in Total War.

Started painting up Gorbad Ironclaw, going to use him as a iron jawz warboss. Wanted to give him an awesome base to display how strong he is...but I'm starting to regret it...so much to paint!

Well, here's the thing. Yes, I have considered it but after having done 1250 (and counting) AoS models, it seems a shame to have some that don't fit in with the others!

@MongooseMatt - I can relate. I don't like to spend too much time basing and I use the same formula for pretty much all my armies. It looks like you are using tufts of grass - if you did want to change it up, you could always just add a static grass that was a slightly different shade rather than rebase everything from scratch. Cover the base to varying degrees, that way you could leave some as they are and cut down on your work. I've also seen people paint random objects like broken swords and skulls in quick batches - small stuff that can just be glued to the top of the current base work. A few strategic sprinkles of static grass around the object help blend it into the base.

Then again, 1250 models is staggering, and my friends and I have a saying, "Done is beautiful."

As an aside, let me also say that I have really enjoyed reading your blog. Your reviews are insightful and I like the narrative flair you give your battle reports. I am also staggered by how fast you are able to produce well painted models, which adds a lot to your battle reports. Your paint-fu is strong. Keep up the good work!
