Finished the army today:



I really like the wing effect, when painting I noticed that the red wash on a splotchy greenish base gave a sort of pinkish-greenish-grey I can best describe as "spoiled meat" which, ironically, is exactly the effect I wanted. Overall I am really happy with the human-like color palette I used, because I feel it really highlights the fluff that these are (were?) humans that have degenerated into monsters. Plus, the dark color scheme makes them look sinister and disturbing (the copious amounts of Blood for the Blood God paint helps with this!).

Been having a bit of a slow down on painting of late (those Stardrakes really took it out of me!), but I may be getting back on track.

First up, Black Knights!

Incidentally, if you have been wondering how to tackle a Flesh-Eater Court, I have found a way that really could not be simpler (or quicker) to do!

My Savage Orruks arrived yesterday morning!
So far I've assembled 16 Savage Orruks and 2 Big Stabbas.
Today I'm starting a box of Savage Boarboy Maniks, I have 3 more Savage Orruk boxes to open still! My first thousand points.
I plan to build at least 30 Arrowboys and some Morboys as well.
But I'm off to a good start!

My Khorne start collecting box, Lord on Juggie and and big AOS starter box (for more khorne heroes and monster) plus new GW bases arrived the other day.

I have almost finished the Khorne from the little Storm of Sigmar set I bought the other week. I think that means I'm averaging less than 1 model per day, probably closer to 1 every 2 days :(

Like the blood warriors, but they have a lot of detail so are not quick to paint. Blood reavers just look daunting due to numbers (and lots of flesh, which I always find awkward). First mental hurdle to overcome is actually cutting out and making all those new models.

Can't make my mind up about the new bases. they are sort of nice, but struggling to come up with a paint scheme for them. Also you get far too many bases that are not wanted - only 30 * 32mm but 40 * 25mm, which might be nice for gobbos or skaven. Would have preferred buying each size separately.

Man I do like the armored skeleton look. If the FEC fluff wasn't so great, I might have looked at those. The regular skeletons are too bare for my tastes, but Grave Guard + Black Knights are really cool.

Maybe a future project; if I'm not mistaken I could use them alongside my Flesh Eaters since they are both Death armies?

I never fully appreciated just how bloody big those Vargheists and Crypt Horrors are until now. Jeez.

I was surprised too. Also surprised how tiny the ghouls are (but they are all hunchbacks too). But yes, Crypt Horrors are pretty darn big.

Slow down? Slow down my arse. Thanks for making me look bad. That would take me over 6 months to do what you do. And you do so much better than me I can't even compare to you. Slow down right.

10 Savage Boarboy Maniks built! I also found 4 old metal Savage Orcs today! They're going into the mob of 16 I built a few days ago.

Just bought 2 Khorne Daemon Getting Started boxes, Skarbrand and a box of Fenrisian Wolves (to use as Flesh Hounds). I also have had a few metal Bloodcrushers and a Lord of Khorne on Juggernaught (mounted herald counts as) in my closet for a few years.
Tuesday morning I will be learning to airbrush and I'm going to try to finish the entire army in a month. I'll try to post regular updates. I'd like to inspire people who feel they'll never complete an army. I want to show it can be done in a matter of weeks.

Managed to get a whole new army done this weekend (only five models, but still)! This is one I have been wanting to do ever since Age of Digmar came out - a whole tribe of Aleguzzler Gargants!

I'll probably end up getting another another start collecting box to give me 80 dryads in total, another Branchwych, a regular treelord and another ancient. That way I can do the last march of the Ents.

But yeah I am really happy with the quick progress I have made with this project.

My Start Collecting! Flesh-eater courts arrived 2 days ago. Haven't gotten much time to build anything in it but so far I've built 5 of the ghouls, and some of the zombie dragon/terrorgheist. That thing is hard to build...

Even worse for my mate, he picked up Nagash the day before, apparently that thing is unnaturally hard to work with...

Just popping in to say this is a great thread. Much positivity and pretty pictures. All the dead guys are awesome, love the Sylvaneth colours, there's a frickin' army of giants, a magmabeast, silver tower posse and some very bad-ass looking Chosen. And that's just this page Great job.

Hmmm I love those metal chosen models, they're a joy to paint and great to look at.
They used to be really hard to rank but AoS really fixed that

These are the finecast ones and while infinitely better than metal (imo) they're still a pain in the arse to prep and paint. That said they are amazing looking models and total killing machines on the battlefield

+1 for this being an awesome thread. Even for non-AoS players, the hobbying being displayed here is amazing to follow

The 5 giant formation is too cool. I finished a single giant yesterday.
