What's the Emperors name?
I know it's a bit short name, but it's always bugged me this question.

I can't believe I never asked this myself. I always just assumed the emperor was just called the emperor.

It's actually the People's Democratic Republic of Tau, but uttering the words "democratic" or "republic" is heresy, so the Imperium call it an Empire.

Whenever I hear of a government representing itself as a Democratic Peoples Republic (or some such variation), it is almost invariably non-democratic, not a republic, and only questionably "for the people".

So good fit I guess!!

As far as I know, the Emperor's name is never explicitly revealed in the fluff but being God-Emperor of Mankind is pretty badass anyway. It's also interesting to note that daemons refer to him as "The Anathema."

He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

The Emperor's name is unknown and will always remain so. Names hold power in the warp, that is the exact reason the emperor never reveals his. Source: A Thousand Sons.

Wasn't the Emperor all of these important figures in history? (Jesus, Hitler, Gandhi, etc) or was he just more behind the scenes whispering in their ears? I can't remember, but if it's the former, then he has countless names.

As for his actual name, I have no idea, and it seems no one else does either. Maybe it's a huge mix of all of the shamans' names, seeing as how they all formed him?

Because it is an extensive group of planets under a single supreme authority.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Jesus, Buddah, Zeus... aren't those God and according to almost any religion God is transcendental (aka. somehting from another dimension aka The Warp ) being. So there is huge chance that the Emperor is neither Jesus or Ghandi or Buddah and all they are Chaos incarnate.

But The Emperor might as well be:

The Emperor's original name is lost to the depths of time. He almost certainly has used hundreds or thousands of names over the millennia. Indeed, he may not remember his original name.
