First up: A Warning!
I am not a slave to 40k fluff- I like the setting, I like things grim-dark, I like many of the designs but I mostly make stuff up from my imagination or from stuff I see and 'borrow' from.
My orks are green but they dont always speak funny, my skaven are not as cowardly, and my dwarves are blue bearded...
So please don't take offense if anything I do or write goes against the official fluff. For me the fun is in creating things that I like to make stories up for.

Oh, and everything is in micro scale .....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First up is an image dump, most of these started out life as purchases for Epic Armageddon forces, but ended up being designed with a game called rogue planet in mind, a micro scale Inquisitor/necromunda style game. It has a very 40k feel to it, though it does lean towards more to the sci-fantasy style of older 40k.

-Vermin-

The Space vermin are a 'skaven-in-space' force, Chaos ruled mutants that have sprung from beneath the imperium.

Some may question are they Rats turned man, or men turned rat?

Geniuses, and with a rapidly increasing population, they have conquered the planet Gorgades in a matter of months, and have begun reshaping the world in their own image. Though some human forces have survived the extermination process and escaped, or remained hidden, it can only be a matter of time before the mutants control the whole system.

The imperium have deleted the records of Planet Gorgades, and its surrounding system, in an attempt to control the spread of fear among the human populace. A battle force of the Vlka Fenryka have taken up the task of setting up a foot hold in the system, having been charged with the secret order of total annihilation of all life on planet Gorgades.

Vermin Warlock

Giant mutants armed with Flamers with Giant mutant rats

Vermin troops armed with chemical weapons

Giant Mutant Rats

Imperium slaves entrenching vermin defenses

Artillery emplacement, minor rat mutants far right

Unconfirmed sightings of Vermin bio-titans reported moving in the Stein sector

I have finished the first complete design for the the vermin doomwheel. Ready for painting, just waiting on the green stuff cables to dry.

-Orks-

The Orkonian empire is rebuilding after the imperium almost wiped them out. Able to survive almost any conditions, Orks have an ability to build everything they need from scrap or from their own fungus. Ork cities are not planned, but built up and around the biggest, baddest ork.

Test minis for my Bad moon Orks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More Ork WiP to come, and lots of terrain WiP that I am working on at the moment.
I may also include some of my small-hammer fantasy armies if there is any interest to see them.

Great stuff. Is that the Troublemaker Games Hover Vector? It looks great. I have some of the GW deffkoptas, and the details are much better on the Vector. I can only assume it is much bigger than the official model.

And yes, would love to see your fantasy stuff!

@tgjensen

Thanks! Yes its the troublemaker games vector. Sadly, the deffkoptas are one of the few ork models I haven't managed to get my hands on, so I cant compare the size but as almost all their other orks are a lot bigger than even the newer GW orks I would say they probably are! I have a couple more image dumps to do of all my epic stuff before I catch up with my current WiP, but after that I will put up a few shots of my smallhammer fantasy stuff!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Terrain-

WiP city gate, doors are magnetised to open and shut. Needs to be rebased as I have rethought out the walls and they will not fit this current base. Just needs the new base and I have some metal parapets to add. I just need to finish cutting them to shape.

Home made trees. I have thousands more ready to base up! The next lot I make will probably have a snow effect to mix it up a bit.

Couple of shrunken dropzone commander buildings, with my some of my fantasy ruins.

Home made roads and chaos face. Chaos face was a charity shop find, and I haven't had the heart to repaint it yet, its too spooky!

Ruins made from battlescene designs building scraps.

Found this in the attic of my in-laws when clearing it out. It needs gutting as the inside workings are rusted through but its perfect size! Wolves for scale!

This next one is my ongoing project to make a huge piece of modular terrain. It is my skaven/plague blood factory. I was originally going to even have removable accessory inside to change between nurgle or skaven, but that idea kinda went out the window when I couldn't source the parts I wanted. Now it will be made to skaven specs, but with modular sections that can be replaced with nurgle icons. The small center outbuilding below the ladder will be turned in to the pit, filled with decaying bodies and ladder converted into a conveyor belt. Sadly, the parts I needed are no longer being sold, so It has been shelved while I try to find replacements. I need to start on the 2nd level, and finish the small tower, which I originally planned to insert lights.

Chaos statue is useful for both fantasy and sci-fi.

I found a slightly better photo that shows the skaven warlock in more detail, especially on the full size image (and yes I did paint the micro swirls on the weapons globe!) Though he is there in front of a fantasy skaven unit, which are the original non-converted rat models that I use for the troops.

My PiP Ork warboss, the grot banner bearer carries a HUGE banner (just the pole for now, need more banner material in!) in reflection of my comically over-sized 40k scale one I must finish painting one day!

One more image dump to go before I'm all caught up. I have some Imperial characters to go, and some custom 1k sons that I have just started for my other half. I have quite a bit of imperial stuff started but as I went for grey camo with grey bases, I have decided to strip them and start over with a similar scheme that I will use on my marines.
Been working on a new super heavy tank for the vermin, and an ork power plant today.

A small showcase of some of my 6mm small-hammer project I started a while back, with plans to grow this in to a huge campaign involving most of the races of the old world once we have moved house and settled. Still got a LOT to do, stashed away for a rainy month!

Goblin army. I have several more units that are almost complete.

Goblin town is made to be modular, I have a big box of these buildings, and everything else is so cheap to make- just very time consuming. But I fully intend to make a full table goblin town one day.

Chaos Dwarves. Will probably redo the base and go for snow to help them stand out more.

Skaven slave/clan rat unit.

Just a test stand for wood elves, to see if the colours worked.

Just a small post.
This mini was painted up to test out a colour scheme and to try out the newish gw effects paints (which are surprisingly good!)

I'm still unsure if id prefer this plague style or a more classic death guard scheme, but I am toying with doing a mix of both, but not sure that will work.

Hey LH. I have been trying to keepup with your Plogs but been preoccupied moving over the sea, and sorting out the new house. I have just updated TacComms, but need to sit down with a mug of tea and a good half hour spare to reread all your Plogs there, as I skimmed over some huge chunks of updates I see!

So I moved, and had to pack everything up, so I lost track where I was with a lot of things, but I have my own dedicated painting and modeling Office now which means that though my projects are bit all over the place, my output, even with everything I have been tied up with (Moving, cleaning, DIY, traveling etc.) has increased dramatically! I think I actually painted more over new years than I managed for the entire of 2015! And not just 6mm! I even painted over a dozen warhammer minis that have sat in boxes for years!

Test mini for my mico ad-mech warband. Have collected up an assortment of different minis to do more Ad mech in the future, just need to get some more vehicles and I will actually have enough for a full army, and not just a warband.

WiP of a 1k sons warband. I really must get around to doing some more to them. I have some really nice bits to add to this warband, I just haven't found the patience to paint this much gold at 6mm!

My test mini for my space wolves. I pretty pleased how this turned out, though the snow does not as good up close as in the photo. I dried a bit bad, and there are sort of bubbles in the snow. but the tank covers most of it. Pretty pleased how it turned out though, as I have a space wolves army, but it desperately needs a repaint.

Sorry about the image quality They are not great photos as everything was taken on my phone/potatoe, and then uploaded to facebook so most dont look so great. I will get round to doing much nicer photos on my camera, but I have far too much to do around the house and that, sadly, is very far down the list!

Test scheme for my dark eldar. Really easy to paint and fast. Just need to undercoat the whole lot and I could probably knock these out in a weekend!

Some last minute additions to more orks before everything was packed up.

This is what I made too see the new year, a bottle of local whiskey, a few horror films (well actually a pile of about 50!) and made some ork terrain. Not a lot of detailing to these, but I really like how it turned out, has a 'warcraft in space' feel too it.

Finally got round to making good on my promise to finish off some of my battlescene design ruins! (Plug! soon available at your friendly neighborhood vanguard miniatures!)

finished another character for skirmish games (plug: Rogue planet! from bombshell games!) I spent a long time on my ork flamer, getting him just right, and getting the flooring cut just right. Need to go back over with some inks to fill in some spots, and panel line the floor again, but called him done after I realised Id watched two films while painting him! Wish the photo was a little sharper, I loved the hazard stripes I did the electrical cables in!

Sat down and forced my self to finish off my skaven doomwheel. Also went back over and added some more detail to some of my older rats, and added some giant rats to some of the bases. Then went and actually painted my super heavy flamer tank. Now I just need microworld to release their rats so I can really get some stuff done for this army!

Sorry again for the image quality. I will renew all photos as soon as I can, but I really like keeping this log up to date. I'm afraid I have just pretty much copy/paste my log from another forum, as I wanted to up date both logs, but with still so much to do around the house I couldn't dedicate more time to hobby and choose to spend it on painting rather than typing!

Here are my Orks, everything painted to date. Made the two Ork casualty markers/terrain at the front. Battlewagon needs a base and banner boy needs a Bad moon logo- I have tons of them some where, but the decal sheet is one of a couple of things that has eluded me since I moved!
Going to repaint some of the brown based stuff to fit in with my city based stuff. I have a ton of Metal minis that I have been stripping and getting ready to paint, but I think I'm going to try and knock a ton more Boys out first, just to get them down and out the way.

Been doing some repair work to these fragile scratch builds that got a little shaken up on the move.

I have here, bad moon nob, Ork in mega armour (new 40k style) Ork warboss in huge mega armour, and scratch built Killer kan.

Haha yes I did, I was using bottle caps for a long time, but the other way round. This way works great for Ork buildings and you kinda of get an extra one for each one you make, though gluing them together can be a pain as some of them are funny plastic! Bad news is that I threw a whole carrier bags worth out when I left England, though good news, they are not hard to come by!

So things have been kinda funny recently, and I needed something to stick my head in and take my mind elsewhere. My 'Micro-munda' (or 'less than an inch-quistor'!) stuff kept getting put off. I kept starting on rather large projects for it that for reasons I keep on shelving and not finishing. So I decided to work on some smaller bits to see if that gave me a kick in the butt to get something done, and finished, for it. And it worked- once I made one small building I just kept going (four nights straight now) and I now have a decent sized pile of stuff ready to to undercoat.

First I made a small part of an abandon tank factory. This one is affectionately referred to as 'The claaaaaaaw!' I left the blank area on it as a space for either a propaganda poster or some graffiti

Next is a electrical conduit, the cables actually come to just below the terminators head, so it provides cover, but the photo makes it look rather flat.

Next I made a bunch of crash barriers, though some spikey cultists got their hands on three of them! I have a ton more cut ready to be glued to together, but wanted to space them out as I will get sick of painting them if I made them all at once.

Next up a made two of these Fuel dumps/ ammo crates warehouse tiles. Not much detail on the crates but I will paint a lot of that on.

Random bridge to nowhere! I made it but it didn't really have function, but I thought it came out looking cool, so I added the pipe underneath to give a little more 'realism' and now I can always go back and add slime or electrical tiles to mix up with this piece! Still needs a few more coats of liquid greenstuff to smooth the steps out.

Made a small tower with some I beams I got cheap. Will make several more versions of this, and at least one more with much more detail, but I wanted a fast easy tower piece.

Next is a simple wall/ walkway. Made mostly for the opposite side which is all blank wall, room for plenty of the necromunda posters to be stuck on.

Picked up some cheap and ridiculously oversized industrial vehicles, way to big, but I think they work as they are crazy! I love this one as the back lifts up and revels the bones of some dead prehistoric creature (Of which a real live specimen may have escaped my genetics lab and be seen at a later date!)

Warehouse tiles together

And lastly- This may get tidied up or a very least a hazard stripe paint job but this is a very important piece of kit...

The rescue Rod can grab out minis that my fingers cant always reach from inside buildings!

I need to kick myself to finish the large building roof and walkway system (one more level to go on the top), then I can spray this lot all at once! Then I think it needs a couple of 'fluff' items like statues or something then I need to crack on with the start of the warbands, and rebasing the ones I have already completed! My mission is to actually play a game on this as soon as I can! ( I've not actually played any game since my last WFB game which was around 1995!!)

Taking breaks in-between painting a few AoS armies and fantasy terrain, I've been slowly adding layers of paint to my 6mm skirmish stuff.

I'd finished some of them, but wasn't happy with the the paint schemes, having gone for plain metallics, nothing stood out and it looked rather bland, so I went back over this one too add a little more colour, and I much prefer it.

Thanks! I have lots more coming, as I have so many unpainted boxes of this stuff! (and I'm probably going to order a ton more in the next few weeks!

Next up:

A chaos Minotaur 'boss' character.

Through cosmic chaos, through burning stars, abyss horns now bray.
The dark is calling infernal beings on paths of fire...

I had to fiddle with the brightness a fair bit for the blood effects to show up, so the highlights on his face are not any where near that clean and bright, but I might go back over them later as his facial features are not as clear in real life. I have a some more beastmen already painted up, they just need basing. It will probably turn in to a whole beastman warband later on.

I wanted to test painting the barrier before I committed to painting all of them. It came out way neater than I though I could get it. I need to go back and paint in some highlights on the black, and will probably weather them, but as it came out so neat I didn't want to ruin it with brown washes too soon!!

Ethereal Butcher

I had this mini left over from when I was testing a paint scheme to paint a much larger dark eldar force for epic. I wanted to add a bit more horror to my skirmish forces, so decide to try out the blood basing I'd seen done on 40k, and see if I could replicate it in 6mm. I think it came out pretty well, though it is way to dark, I had done it over black and brown thinking it would have given some nice depth to the blood, but it was too dark at this scale. I tried it again with a new mini, and this time went for a brown/tan undercoat to make it a lot lighter.

Blood Daemon warping in to the physical realm

Still drying when I took this. The blood is drying much better, the lighter coat really helped. It will need another glaze or two to clean up some of the patchy areas of green warp. (the glaze removed some of the original wash, even though I had let it dry) then It needs a gloss coat to help smooth it out and blend it in to the daemon (who is very very glossy now hes dry!)

@monkeytroll. Thanks, I have the bits to make more doomwheels but there is a good proxy available now, so he may end up being one of a kind!
I have no idea. Found it up in the in laws attic when we cleared their house out. They had been using the attic as a dumping ground for almost 40 years and it was full of all sorts of junk and old clothes. I found that and a couple cool cigar boxes I'm going to use for Inq28 storage. The cathedral was clearly a decorative light of some kind as I pulled the old LEDs out of it. But they had no clue about it, they couldn't remember putting it up there at all.

Made a dent in my Dark Eldar painting back log. Finished these up last night, just haven't decided on what basing scheme I'm going to do. Either Red mars, Orange mars or Urban grey. Red mars is expensive but looks great, orange mars is the budget version of Red mars looks ok and is cheap but doesn't have that snap that red does, and Urban grey is cheap, easy but nearly everything I paint is based in grey.

I also started rebasing my Orks on to long bases. I've also change the basing material I use. The warboss has the old sand mix on but the boys have my brand new quick, easy and ridiculously cheap basing material.

The last year has been crazy busy, so between uni work and getting sidetracked by a few larger scale projects, I've finally managed to get back to small scale sci-fi and fantasy!

I've updated my 6mm fantasy blog to now also include Epic 40k/30k and have started putting up some painting guides. I'll be doing a mix of both fantasy and epic guides, as espcailly with fantasy 6mm, there is not a lot out there for the genre in that scale. It's also a good excuse to paint up some other miniatures and help tackle the growing 6mm lead pile!

My first epic painting guide covers my 30k loyalist Emperors children scheme, Using Novan Elites from Vanguard miniatures in place of space marines:

Working on putting together some Epic 40k 3rd edition detachments to play some games over the summer.

I have a bunch of the new AT models on back order, which were gifted to me and decided the only sensible thing to do would be to have some Ad mech to go along with them. But have gone mad for them and it turned from being some base decoration to an entire army project- not that I mind, they are fantastic models to paint! Models are from vanguard miniatures 'cybershadows' range. I have a few conversions on the workbench, using some of the older GW models for some of the more obscure units, but I know vanguard have some more units in the works, which should come out soon!

Good to hear that! Ive also handed in a different weapon sprue for those walker tanks, just to have more non-proxy variety. Let's see if VGM will produce those. Also been experimenting a bit with a lighter walker.

Ah cool. More weapons, man I love the kit already but with even more weapons, it's probably going to turn into the 6mm converters dream! I can see me only a lot more variants of it in the future! Definitely in need of more robots and walkers. Been hoping that we might see a chicken walker in the future. I toyed with the idea of chopping up some sentinels, but I dont think I'd be able to get the look quite like the biggerised version, which is even lighter. I know tracked units are coming out soon (which is great, I wanted to add some Andy Chambers style Praetorians to the army) but robots & dreads are still in short supply in this style. A lot of proxy big robots out there now, but never enough of the smaller stompy bots!

It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
