Wonderful paintwork all around. The bases don't do much for me (hate cork, hate black rims, hate snow in general) but the army is looking pretty darn good - would love to see an army shot soon!

You can't please everyone. I like black rims because it gives a nice contrast, as if to frame the miniature like a tiny 3d painting. Coloured rims only look nice when they match the table they're played on IMHO. And as I like to give my different armies differently themed bases, they rarely match the table. And of course those old-school bright goblin green bases look awful no matter what.

Thanks! I live in Waalwijk, near the Efteling. I and a friend both have our own gaming tables at home, so we normally just play at one of those tables.
I have actually yet to play a pick-up game in the 8 years I'm into 40k - the stores here don't even have room for a full 4x6' table. Although a new GW store in Tilburg opened last year which is reasonably sized and a has a few nice tables, so I might give it a try to play there sometimes.
I tried joining a gaming club in Den Bosch like 5 years back, but never got any replies to my applications, so after a while I just stopped bothering and only played with friends.
Where are you at? Your Orks and DKoK look very nice.

Great looking army. I especially like the Dante conversion. May have to steal that idea. Automatically Appended Next Post: Great looking army. I especially like the Dante conversion. May have to steal that idea.

How did you do the red exactly? Mixed with light brown or a mild orange or something? I love it that the bloody guys do not look so comicly colorful!
Edit: forgot to say: just gorgeous and outstanding work!

Thanks guys! Currently working on a Furioso Dreadnought with frag cannon and heavy flamer, I hope to have that done soon.

I prime them with Vallejo German Panzer Grey by airbrush so they have a dark grey base, then I airbrush Vallejo Burnt Umber about the upper three quarters and a few thin coats of Vallejo Fire Red sprayed as a zenithal highlight to give it the red colour. After that I line the recesses and inner edges with GW Nuln Oil. And to finish it off I apply chipping of GW Rhinox Hide followed by GW Leadbelcher with a sponge to act as both weathering and an edge highlight.

Is it possible for you to do a vid of the weathering you do on the edges? I really like it as opposed to a lot of "highlighting" of the edges you normally see. It makes them look totally gritty.
I have no concept of how you achieved that with a sponge though. I need visuals please sir!

Just put a small amount of paint on a piece of foam and dab it on, it's very simple.
GW did a video on it as well:

I just use Leadbelcher instead of Runefang Steel to suit my darker paint scheme better.
