Hello!

I recently decided to start collecting the sisters, and was wondering what I should get to start them off.
there are a few units however I would rather not get, namely Jacobus (even though he is apparently the best HQ) and the repentia, just because I really don't like the aesthetics of those models. My budget for starting is around £70 and I intend to buy from gw store. And don't worry, I already have the codex. Hope you can help me out!

I would wait until they get redone or just look for different models

Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.

To be honest, half the fun for me is the fact that the models are in metal, I find it really neat.

Well, $70 won't get you too far. I think the basic squad of sisters is about $80.

I'd just buy Space Marines and use them as stand-ins until Sisters get made in plastic. Otherwise, you'll be spending a LOT of money for an overall mediocre force.

Still better than Blood Angels or CSM's though. Just a bit above Dark Eldar and maybe Orks.

Been wanting to start an adepta seroritas army for a while now but they just are low tier and their models are expensive.

But if you really want to go for it, you'll need lots of immolators, lots of dominions and 3 exorcists. Since look seems to guide your model choices, saint-celestine is one of the greatest model I've seen GW make.

If you're deadset on spending your money in a GW store, I would recommend against buying the full Sisters squad "deal." You're getting a Sister with a storm bolter (not a common choice) and another with a Simulacrum (only really useful in specific units). Buy the three Sisters blisters to create squads the way you want without wasting money on minis you'll never use.

Celestine, 2 Immolators, 2 Sisters with meltas, and 3 blisters of Sisters puts you around £100. It's a legal army and every single model will be useful as you build your force.

the_Armyman's advice is pretty solid. Pick up Celestine, the sisters' blisters, and some immolaters and you have yourself the start to a sister's army

And the remaining $50 on an exorcist.

Or look at dreamforge (plus some bitz) and convert them manually. These are floating around on the net, and still the best looking sisters i've seen:

Those are pretty slick conversions. But I get the impression that the OP intends to play in a GW store making the DFG stuff a non-starter

Quoted for truth. This is spot on, and will be a good basis. Pretty much need immodulators, exorcists, bolter sisters, metla sisters, celstine, and a couple priests and youre done for most lists.

Haters gonna hate...

But in all seriousness, I love my Sisters army. To start, as above:

Celestine- Great model, fun to play, meets the HQ requirement
Sisters- the three packs with bolters, plus a melta gun and heavy flamer. You'll continue to use these models as you grow your army.
Immolator- A great dedicated transport that adds survivability and mobility to your bolter girls.

This should exhaust your funds, provide you withe a legal allied force, and get you going. I started mine as an allied force thinking Celestine would be fun to play. Now I have six Exorcists, seven Immolators, and more nuns than I care to count.

T_S meant that £70 is $150 USD, not that the Sisters squad was $150 :p

Not that aggravating, apparently. As I managed to build a Canoness on the bus of all places!

Right! I managed to buy a Canoness (Because I love the model...even though I got the backpack I didn't want! ) and I've got an immolator ordered in to my flgs, which should be there by next Wednesday-Thursday.

I removed the flash when I got home, and she seems sturdy enough without pinning, IMO.

If it's pewter the tiniest fall or knock will pop it apart fairly handily. It's almost always worth pinning provided the pieces are large enough to allow it.

What's your plan for painting your sisters btw?

The plan is to paint them up in a deep wine red/burgundy colour with gold detailing, to represent my own Order. (Which currently doesn't have a name...)

Well it's extremely hard to argue against Dominion Squads. of all the things you'll want to learn how to use, that's at the top of my list. So You're going to need the Sisters of Battle (with Meltas) for troops and you will likely want St. Celestine for an HQ. Start there. then start focusing in on Dominion squads which means lots of Meltagun sisters.

Scatter bikes are a'feared of them Dominion somethin' fierce. =) Cannot go wrong with them.

Just by looking at them, with no knowledge, I'd say go for the Celestine woman, then that Battle Sister Squad for £50. That about £62 in total as Celestine is £12. I don't know how much that is in dollars. probably closer to $100 than $80.
