Well, I cracked. Goddamnit. I'm trying to get better about KS, but the original game was the first time I ever painted miniatures (dug it out of my parents' attic recently), and the nostalgia is strong.

Plus the rotating overlord mechanic actually makes this more appealing than similar games (passing on Star Saga) - you actually have incentive to do your best as the overlord, instead of just trying to provide a challenge.

So excited to hear about the mission generator. Was it officially mentioned in an update? I can't find it?

As a man of my word though, if it is in, so am I. I went Dark Legion pledge. :-)

Yes it is in update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/274643038/siege-of-the-citadel-2nd-edition-techno-fantasy-bo/posts/1700494

Sorry if this has been discussed at length, but does the Overlord role rotate per turn, or per game? If the later, I imagine it might slightly frustrate those who are stuck with only two players?

Per game but rules may be different in new edition. There will be new modes too like solo play.

And to my earlier point, now that a random mission generator deck is in (a very reasonable $20 add-on... which isn't included in DL pledges), can someone tell me how far characters level/progress? Can we expect to be able to string a dozen games together, or just a couple?

Is there any "between missions" events, ala the travel/towns of Warhammer Quest of old?

so far I think there are 10 levels to reach for heroes. It will be posible to have heroes from one campaign to join new and link expansions together. In Luna there will be even more challenging options for high level heroes. There is also hard to give a definitive answer about the rules as they are still not ready so there will be more videos.

The value tipping point was just too great. Between all the .pdfs, miniatures, added campaigns, tiles, etc... DL has probably exceeded CMoN levels of value!

I also preordered a bundle of Resurrection 2.0's book, etc... from Prodos, as the two add significant value to each-other. The already good board-game, doubling as actual models for the table-top game even if I am sure to never find a local player-base, is awesome.

I would not recommend physical WZR books. I had WZR rulebook that was outdated after a month. Waste of money. Stay with pdf which is free if you must play anything Prodos related.

Well, I've heard nothing but praise from version 2.0 play-testers, and love the setting. I will probably not get a ton of chances to play it... but i'll remain an optimist. :-p

Meanwhile, I don't mind supporting my country-men, and a Polish game feels like something worth at least making some effort to back.

The 2.0 rules are available for free as pdfs, aren't they?

Or was that just my imagination.

I wouldn't mind picking up some of the books or pdfs to at least read through.

Did the same for Void and Chronopia, and I have no intention of really starting either of those games.

Although with Modiphius mentioning looking into Chronopia....

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The rules are indeed out, and free. At a first-read, they also seem terrific, and the GMG bat-rep I watched likewise looked very clean, and interesting.

The napkin math I did, based on Siege of the Citadel suggests that you could field a HUGE Legion army based exclusively on what's in the KS right now, while likewise having most of the "Heroes" from the other factions.

If 40k players wanted some Daemon Princes and other Chaos minions, this would be great for them. I love that it basically also provides Warzone players with a hell of a Dark Legion army.

I am probably going to buy in anyway (both for the boardgame and for use in the excellent rpg) but do we know about any variant sculpts for the Dark Legion models? One sort works fine for a boardgame or rpg but I would be more hesitant building a tabletop army out of a pledge with 20 identical sculpts

Unfortunately, it's one of the few evident weaknesses of this campaign: there aren't any variant sculpts whatsoever. So yes, all 20 undead legionaires will indeed look like an identical chorus line. This is in keeping with the original Siege of the Citadel, in which there was one pose per enemy type.

That would ordinarily be a deal-killer for me, but on the other hand, they're unlocking so many different character and enemy types that you still end up with a lot of unique miniatures.

Strangely enough, I don't think anyone's asked or complained about variant sculpts during the entire campaign.

OK, I just posted a question as to whether they'd consider it as a stretch goal. We'll see.

Cheers! I ended up backing anyway for the aforementioned rpg reasons but it definitely wouldn't be a problem if they threw out a couple of variations (it looks like the cultists have three different poses?)

Chris also mentioned in the comments that new poses was something being considered as a future goal, so we can all take solace in Vermonter asking for us.

Don't forget the final social stretch goal needs to be unlocked, as it lets backers vote on a new legion creature to include.

I still say a Biogiant or something large, but that's just my preference for big monsters. Plus I'd love to see how they would update it.

The wife and I always love board-games with some RPG-lite mechanics, so I was always at least looking at this one, but I also wanted to specifically play Legion in the table-top/Prodos game, and as we discussed, at this point a pledge in this KS essentially gets you one or more units of everything in that army-list, plus piles of extras.

The random quest maker which accounts for all the extra tiles, etc... is a huge bonus, and honestly, the deal was sealed when they offered the $30 hardbound book with every campaign, and .pdf extra in print.

This has been an amazing value as KS goes. I am very, very excited.

If the KS creators are watching this space... here's a quick request. Any chance of expanding on/adding a "between games" expansion? Something which lets events or such happen between game sessions with rammifications on the next game?

I caved, mostly because it is one of the best light co-oop/leveling mini board games ever. It just needed a bit of balancing and polish. Wich it will probably get now. I really should have taken the lower pledge, I will probably never use the rest of the material (which also tend to be less balanced and thought out in exploding kick starters). But the "deal" simply seems too good...

There's so much stuff in the pledge (and still coming!?!?) that you could honestly part out most of the Dark Legion pledge on eBay or the like, keep the base game, and probably end up having the game pay for itself at that point.

That's what I've done with most of the Zombicide stuff at least. Don't think it will be much different here.

So I take it the original game was much loved for its gameplay? I am not really familiar, but people seem to have such a great fondness for it. Was its original release already a light RPG/Co-op game? That sounds shockingly progressive for its time, considering the attention I always remember being spot-lighted on Heroquest.

Check mutantpedia http://www.mutantpedia.com/eng/ - there you will find pdfs for old Siege plus all old MC rpgs, wargames etc.
