. Remember Comorragh, the greatest city, the entire existence of Dark Eldar society was overwhelmed or at least rocked to its very core by 300 salamanders breaking in.

Salamanders which were let in and then directly helped by Vect. Vect used the Salamanders to weaken his rivals and seize control. The Salamanders would have been annihilated otherwise.

Wasn't the Storm of the Emperor's Wrath only speculated in-universe as have been created by the Emperor (due to its timing and what was destroyed by it).

Yes of course they would have, hence the fact they made little actual impact on the city or it'd fighting population, vect planned the strike so it caused maximum damage to priority targets and eliminated the higherarchy of the city in the quickest fashion. BUT, it's still evidential of their ability to cause such great damage with such a small number. The endured in the city despite being gravely outnumbered. Even if they were cloaked in a nicer thick layer of plot armour

Like most gods, the Emperor works in mysterious ways.

Yes, it is speculated that it is caused by the Emperor because it swallowed, in its entirety, the "punitive fleet" that Vandire sent to destroy Sebastian Thor before things really got cooking with the Reformation there. That it basically permitted Thor, and the Army of Light, to then progress to Terra without significant issues in the void is... quite telling.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Question.

Couldn't Vect just send a bunch (maybe 20) Mandrake's to Terra? They could surely get there, someone on the planet has to have a shadow.

Once they got there, is there a reason (besides the Emperor) why they couldn't place those delightful black-hole boxes and 'shadow-jump' out of there, leaving the high lords, the astronomicon and half of Solar system Terra to die?

I'd have to vote Eldar, simply for this. All it requires is brains (which Vect certainly has), black holes (which he has, although 20 might be overkill), and mandrakes.

With FTL travel the Imperium cannot muster the huge forces everyone's talking about, and without the Emperor its only a matter of time before everyone splits off and does their own thing.

I don't recall the Salamanders actually doing the damage though. Vect disabled the locks on the ship if I recall correctly.

Fair enough. Just checking I didn't miss any new background about it.

As with all these abilities (Deathmarks I'm looking at you) I feel one should assume that there are ways of blocking it. Otherwise Mandrakes would be capable of assassinating anyone anywhere. Maybe void shields or some such can prevent it. Perhaps the Psykers present could detect it and stop it somehow. Actually with the number of Psykers of Terra there are probably some nifty tricks they could pull out. Not to mention any archaeotech or just high level Imperial technology which protects the Imperial Palace.

Also it's unknown if Vect has any more black hole boxes.

Incorrect, their battle barge smashed directly into the stronghold of vects main opponent destroying it, their droppods smashed through many of the towers of the DE nobility and the salamanders within the captured cruiser fired a single missile into each of the locks holding it to free themselves

Sadly despite all the awesome stuff the eldar have, the imperium just have numbers and boring, non-hovering tanks.

I think that the imperium would win, at great cost.

The armies that I collect:

- Tyranids, 2,000 pts.
- Orks, 1,250 pts.
- Tau, 750 pts.
- Guard (PDF), 750 pts.

(Yes I have a thing for horde armies to some extent)
