Currently I'm facing mostly Eldar Warhosts, Necron Decurions (thankfully without canoptec harvests) and Space marine Strike Forces. And my record hasn't been the best, as I'm mostly loosing. I'm considering to include a Stompa (maybe a Kustom Stompa) to get some firepower against utterly superior armies. The question - at 1850 points, is a stompa a usefull addon or just a point sink?

Kustom Stompa w/ double D blast weapons, filled with 3-4 units of Burna/Lootas, of whom 3 in units are Meks. Maybe a Power Generator/KFF Big Mek inside too.
It's entirely possible to fit in two at 1850.

I've used Codex Stompa at 1850. Its best asset is that it grants fearless. Be careful it doesn't get tied up in close combat with other Fearless units. Use it as the ultimate line breaker, not as a shooting platform. Moves the same speed as Bikes and Deffkoptas, MSU Deffkoptas can be great around it. KFF BikerMek can Beloit stay alive longer. Absorb over watch and such. Boyz running behind will be viewed as a smaller threat and usually ignored. It's low Int is a huge pain against dangerous CC units.

Do you enjoy paying 2x as much as a knight for something that dies to a knight? All the repairs in the world won't matter when its one rounded. I2, and to price it out to survive you need a big mek with kustom ff or mega ff, and grot riggers, probably another 3 meks from burn as or lootas, and maybe the extra missiles. Its more like 1050 or 1100 points when done. And its "firepower" is less than impressive after the dakkacanon whirrr's empty, and your rockits are gone turn one. A 7 inch blast just isn't scary for half your points. Also I had a unit of 4 zoanthropes tie it up for 3 turns. Just couldn't get a 6, and it was paroxismed every turn down to WS 1or 2.

Kustom Stompa with the Deff Arsenal and as many other guns as you can grab. Otherwise, skip it. Either make it worth the ridiculous point cost with ridiculous gun additions or ditch the dumb thing. Takes away from the other fun in the army.

The thing is the custom stompa is undervalued, few said it, then removed their FAQ. A lot won't let you run it.

Codex stompa is a heavily neutered stompa. Its easily 200pts if not more overcosted for what it does.
I was disheartened when i saw that thing in the new ork dex. I wanted to kitbash one for awhile but those rules for that cost are just absurd to me.

I think the Stompa can be somewhat viable. I would avoid the magical unkillable stompa. Its hard enough to kill to begin with, and adding points to it is a mistake. I like putting a unit of Gretchin in it to give it OS, and sometimes a KFF big mek in proximity, but nothing else.
The way to use it is alongside Gunwagons for AV 13 wall. Put Tankbustas in the wagons. That way they can deal with Knights, and the Stompa can handle other things.
Alternatively, you can run a stompa beside a warbiker deathstar.
And definitely don't forget the solo Deff Koptas. The more the better. They are one of the best MSU scoring options in the game.

Just about the only competitive use that's been seen for the codex Stomppa involves grots. Lots and lots and lots of grots.
The stompa basically just waddles around the field whilst making sure that several hundred gretchin never run away, preventing anything scary from getting into melee range whilst they secure objectives and tie down enemies in pointless close combats.
As has been said, the kustom stompa is actually really good. If you build it right it's a contender for shootiest titan in the game - if a little squishy - and really points efficient. The problem is getting people to let you run it, because people are afraid of FW and orks having nice things.
Whilst the kustom stompa is a bit under-priced, that shouldn't really be an issue. Lots of stuff in many a codex is underpriced. Hell, the entire Eldar codex is underpriced. It's still far from broken, and will only serve to level the playing field against many competent armies.

Quite frankly that shooty kustom stompa is what i feel superheavies SHOULD be. If they are loaded to the brim with guns, they should be squishy (well, squishy as far as Supers go, still tankier than a Landraider in the end). Im not a fan of this whole "Im immortally durable!" on top of "I shoot a D template" that Titans tend to do. One or the other, not both.
From my understanding with stompas though is the general rule has been if one is good, two is best. Except in tiny point games (1500pts or so), bringing 2 has usually been what i hear is best. Never even used 1 personally though, just a lot of theorycrafting.

I'll agree with the sentiment on what Titans should be, but that's generally a problem that 40k has in general. If something's good and shooty, GW has this bizarre habit of also making it fething monstrous to actually put down. Or making it super points efficient. I understand why melee units are a combination of killy and tough in many cases, but not ranged.
There are some exceptions; I mean just look at Orks. Flashgitz stayed just as shooty, but became more expensive and way squishier.
I haven't heard that with Stompas though. I've heard that it's usually best to take one and then properly support it. Loading up the kustom one with min sized lootas sporting 3 meks a pop in order to keep it rolling, then building the rest of the list to support it and make sure it works. But to each their own.

I like the fact that it's in the Codex. GW might have put it in there to sell a few more of the old models.
Or as a Premium gimmick to sell more of the standard Gorkanaughts. Although they screwed them up as well.
It would be cool to have a Naked version and just keep adding ala carte just like the current BW. Start it off with the main gun and D Arm and let people add or substitute in a long list.

So it's decided. I'll have a game tomorrow, possibly against Eldar or Necrons. I'll use a Kustom stompa with 2 Bursta Kanons, а Death Arsenal, a Supa Scorcha and a Skorcha. Inside will be a Big Mek with a KFF and the Fixer Upers and Burnas with 3 meks+ 3 slotless meks. Leading the gang will be Zhadsnark with a Painboy, there will be a unit of Warbikers, 2 units of Grots, 2 MANz Misiles and some Deffkoptas. Should be interesting.

What PipeAlley said.
I find it odd that any Ork vehicle doesnt come with "Build A Tank Workshop" mentality considering Orks dont really have a unified preference for weapons. Its entirely klan based or whatever the hell they can get their hands on.

So the result. The Stompa isn't bad, but I still failed horribly due to rolling badly. MANz died ti Necron Warriors in CC, Warbikers were shot to death even with a 2+ cover and 3 Necron Lords just hammered the Stompa to death. Still seeng the eyes of the Necron player when I droped В Blasts were worth it
