Subject: What are the easiest ships for new players to learn?

In my continuing series of "noob questions about X-Wing", I'm wondering what ships are best for new players leaning how to fly/move. From what I hear, the ships in the core sets (X-wing/T-70, TIE/In/Fo) are easy to learn how to use, along with the B-Wing. What other ships wold you recommend for new players to learn how to maneuver?

I'm not sure I quite understand the question?
There's no ship that's easier to fly than any other, you just need to practice with ships of both base sizes. I guess you could make an argument for the likes of As and Ints being easier to fly, because they've got more choices, greens etc, so are more forgiving, but they come with inherent issues because of low total HPs and are very much glass cannons.
Equally, Bs, Ys etc are capable of taking more damage, but don't have as many manoeuvres, so does that make them easier or harder?
There's no dark art to flying the ships, they all behave differently, but it's lists, rather than ships, that one would peg at different difficulties, I wouldn't recommend a swarm to a beginner for instance.

Anything with a turret would most forgiving as you can bump into things, go the wrong way and so long as you don't end up on a rock you still get a shot.
Other than it's really just practice and experience of how far each move will take you, also a ship's base is s straight 1 move across (or two in case of a large ship)

I would agree that there is no ship "harder" to fly than others. However, there is a reason that the starter boxes come with an x-wing and two tie fighters.
It takes practice to maneuver a ship around a game table and avoid obstacles. What I tell everyone, if you make a list, play at least 4 games with it before you junk it and change it. It takes a few games to get the quirks of your list sometimes.
However, with all things said, here are ships I would not start a new player on.
1. Aggressor, Large base with a great dial, but if you make mistakes, it will hurt.
2. Tie Phantom. The whole De-cloak, Cloak thing will mess a new player up, especially Echo.
3. Decimator/Shuttle/YV-666: Large base, horrible dial. New players might fly these off the board if pushed toward a corner, and will most likely hit obstacles.
Just my opinion though.

There are ships that are easy to fly and then there are ships that are easy to fly well. I think that the OP is asking about the second.
Factors making a ship easier to fly well:
Limited actions
Lots of green maneuvers
Lots of hitpoints
Factors making a ship hard to fly well:
Lots of action options (easy to choose the wrong action, easy to get overloaded on choices)
Lots of tricky maneuvers (S-loops, Tallon Rolls, Barrel Roll, etc)
Few hitpoints (not forgiving of mistakes)
An example, a Tie Advanced is easier to fly well than and Interceptor as a novice. Actions are equal (boost may be harder than target lock to use well, so maybe slight advantage to the Advanced). The maneuvers on the dials are pretty equivalent as far as things go (Interceptor may have a slight edge here, because a green 2 turn is hard to beat). But the Advanced clearly has the advantage of having more hitpoints.
When building a list for a novice pilot I usually take the following:
Rebels: Z-95, X-Wing (T-65 version) TY-1300, Y-wing (but only with R2 astromech)
Scum: Z-95, Kihraxz Fighter (really, I don't let novice players play scum... but these would be on the list)
Imperials: Tie Fighter, Tie Advanced, Tie Bomber

The guys above know what they're talking about. I would point out that a lot of it has to do with the personality of the player
as well and how "in to it" they are. Flying anything will make them understand how to play more than anything. Outside of the
funky game mechanics like cloaking and dropping bombs and certain upgrade cards, I think you could fly most things and
have fun which is going to bring them back for more. I started out flying a scum firespray squad and flew that for the first 4-5 weeks
I played. When I switched to small bases, I was crashing everywhere and bumping way more than I did with my big firesprays
just because I was used to flying mandalorian mercenaries all over and had gotten good flying with the bigger base.
I guess what I'm saying is any of the factions have uncomplicated ships to fly. Scum got me into the game, I've still got about 20+ imperial ships I've never flown.

For the original poster, I'd imagine (and my group often includes nubes) that the easiest ships to fly are those that are not penalized greatly for making mistakes. That said, IMO, the ones that penalize poor maneuvers the most are:
TIE Interceptor (needs to use actions well to fly well)
A-Wing (ditto)
Aggressor (ditto)
TIE Phantom (ditto)
Starviper (ditto)
Lambda Shuttle (really bad dial)
Ships that aren't THAT bad at penalizing, but are tricky to use well:
E-Wing (without good action use... might as well fly an X-Wing)
HWK (not as bad with a TLT, and Scum are easier than Rebel)
K-Wing
TIE Punisher
M3-A Interceptor
YV-666 (aux arc makes it easier, but the bad dial penalizes)
Ships that are pretty easy/forgiving:
B-Wing
Y-Wing (Particularly with a turret, always use the R2 Astromech or Unhinged Astromech)
TIE Advanced (with TIE x1 and accuracy corrector or Adv. Targeting Computer)
TIE Fighter
TIE F/O
TIE Defender
X-Wing T-70
X-Wing (Integrated Astromech and R2 unit makes them more forgiving)
Z-95
Kihraxz
Firespray
Anything with a turret (YT 1300, YT 2400, Decimator)
I don't really use the TIE Bomber, but I'd guess that it is in the middle range.

The starter sets or forgiving ships like Dash in Outrider of a guy like a axed who gives you more actions. More choices make for a more forgiving thing for rookies. They're also awesome for experienced players too.

I disagree with this. You have more options, but those ships depend on using their options effectively. If you aren't making the right choices for each situation then you aren't using their full potential, and your expensive ship is probably going to die very quickly. At best you end up with an inefficient ship that pays for options it isn't using effectively, requiring you to get even better performance out of the rest of your list to make up for it. Soontir Fel with a newbie pilot is probably dead in one turn. Dash with a newbie pilot is going to spend half the game with ships in the donut hole. Etc.
The actual best ships for a new player are the simple ones, so that they can focus on learning the basics of maneuvering and attacking instead of being overwhelmed with choices they barely understand. The x-wing and TIE fighter are in the (old) core set for a reason.

Thanks a bunch. This has definitely helped me out a lot. The easiest ships to learn are the simplest ships to maneuver and have actions.
