I was thinking about this the other day. The preferred point value seems to be 1850, and that how people rank armies.
However, based on what units they have I feel different armies might perform better/worse at different point values.
An army that relies on expensive units might not fair well at say, 500, where orks who can still churn out 75+ models on the table might fair better.

I DONT have the experience to rank this myself, but in your opinion what are the top 5 armies in each point value

1000

1850 (we already know but if you want to rank them go ahead)

You can comfortably fit in two Wraithknights at 1000 and 3 at 1500. Is there really a contest?

Why isn't 1850 a bracket? That's what pretty much all the major tourney's are played at....

I'm not sure why people still don't know that white scars and Raven wing are top tier right now.

Is anyone going to add to the list, or just look at it?

I don't have much competitive experience at low point values, so it's all I can do to theorize for those. But since you can fit a wraithknight in even at the 500 mark, I'd say that makes an obvious winner for low point games.

You don't run into good decurions, war convos, and battle companies until 1500.

But as usual, without an agreed mission format (eternal war? Maelstrom? ITC? Nova?) and rules FAQ agreed upon, army tiers can go all over the place.

If say definitely not. A unit of conscripts with a commissar for example could tie the wraith knight up the whole game. Unless you are playing kill points, it would be over as soon as the charge is made.

Have you forgotten stomps? After a round or two of combat, all those conscripts would be bunched up. And not to mention getting into close combat would be nigh impossible, especially with that 200 extra points for bikes, which would shred the conscripts before they could even be close.

That's the exact reason I didn't make it a bracket.

When you read anything about Army Tiers, its always 1850 that they're talking about

At the higher and higher brackets, imperial allies shenanigans can start to come Into play, they can bring alot of very well linked and combined task forces often battle brotherefd and can share transports or use bonus and share perks and buffs to fill other weak points.

Very likely more apoc level type stuff.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
