My kids have been playing and painting since they were wee tots. It started with using my figures to do set ups and then progressed to playing.

My son will be 18 next week and he has been attending GTs since he was 12. He started playing when he was 5 or 6. We got out of 40K during 4th ed for a few years and then picked it back up when he was 9 or so. So, we have been playing together for 9 years straight.

I'm afraid I have a house full of girls, who all, including my wife refer to "daddy's wee men in the funny room." With deadly seriousness. None of whom show any interest at all, just casual dismissal. They refer to games workshop as, "that funny shop daddy likes to go too."

That's awsome guys, glad that this thread is giving us a chance to prove just how much this "waste of money" hobby actually does a lot more for us than what outsiders think.

My parents don't support me at all. And hopefully I can bag a job once I turn 16 in November so I can pay for these things myself!
And yet my dad is all giddy about martial arts and doesn't care about other people's opinions on what they want to do. :/

Don't worry you will be there one day and not care about other people's opinion as well.

Paedophobia means I won't be having kids with anyone any time soon. However, I must say it's been nice to see some Father and Son teams being regulars at a club I visit from time to time in the local area.

I even had a chat with a dad who was explaining to me why Kings of War is so great because it's so simple; his son has ADHD, so he can't concentrate for long periods of time. Kings of War is the perfect game for him and his son to play because it can be wrapped up in less than an hour. It inspired me in a way I didn't think I could be inspired, because he managed to work around a mental disorder that often makes something like miniature wargaming a real tough order, to allow his son to share time and love for the same hobby with him.

Still, I don't want kids, and probably never will have kids. Sorry

Aw man, I'm sleep deprived (kid related... dang infants!) and I TOTALLY misread this first sentence (hint: what's the opposite of phobia?) and I thought... Yikes, what's this guy doing here in this thread? What's he doing admitting THAT in a forum like this?!

Well, thank goodness I'm wrong. Kids are great, once you get through the whole sleep deprivation thing... But after a weeks worth of lousy sleep, I'm strongly sympathetic to your PHOBIA... Ha!

I play...

Sigh.

Who am I kidding? I only paint these days...

You have no idea how many people have misinterpreted that statement. I'm almost used to it, until a few people literally start shouting at me and I have to say "listen, you head, PHOBIA".

Still, being a Paedophobe gives me a whole new level of hatred towards Paedophiles that others probably don't have - I understand their reasoning even less

And yeah, the idea of sleep deprivation doesn't help either. I may go to bed late, but at least it's because of my own free will... sort of

My first is almost hitting the 3 years mark and the missus has mentioned the desire for a second... Oh how I understand you...

What's worse that being sleep deprived is when you just think it's finished of not watching Teletubbies anymore, a new one shows up and you are still watching that show. ARGH!

Then it was SpongeBob. GAH. Finally it's over.

My oldest will be 9 in March. He has some Blood Angels that, after I prime them red, he uses metallic sharpies to pick out the details.
Next I have a 6 and 4 year old girls. I have a small number of sisters that I'm painting 'for them'. Because girls in armor kicking butt? Yes... that is what I want them to see. They even helped with the color scheme. More importantly, I want my sons to see women kicking butt in armor too (paint and basing schemes between the two armies will match... so that they can play together eventually.)

Yes, when I am playing Civilization it is of course my own free will which makes me click "Next Turn" rather than save and quit. After all, my capital will have finished building the Pyramids that turn so I can just select what it is going to build next and then I'll quit. It's just one more turn, that's all.

What do you mean it is 7am?

1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.
