Hey guys well ever sine i was young I loved tatical games. My favorite even now is WAR a old doss game. Cant find it anymore tho sadly, now the graphics and such dont matter at all I just liked the planning and strats ect. In war it was place ranged units in a keep try to defend hide in the woods ect.

So does anyone know a good strat game for ipad or any other mobile thats not just about how fast you can clcik or how much money you spend?

I need to go to work every day.

Only game that comes close to being tactical is Kingdom Rush: Frontiers (second game in series). But that's a tower defense game, though the most entertaining tower defense game I've played. You could give it a try on Armor Games. I've played it too much, got all the achievements without paying. The third game is out now but I haven't played it yet.

Tower defense is really your most likely bet there. Plenty of them abound, at least, some of them actually good.

I've always been a fan of strat rpg's like final fantasy tactics, shining force, etc on consoles. Xcom enemy unknown and enemy within expansion are pretty fantastic.

You can apparently get shining force on iPhone for a relevant answer.

Depends on your definition of tactical.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown/ Enemy Within can be pretty tactical at times, especially with the Long War mod for Enemy Within. It is fairly hard, though.

The closest things to what you're describing are probably The Banner Saga, Frozen Synapse, and Skulls of the Shogun.

You can get XCOM on mobile, and it isn't bad, but in my opinion the controls didn't move over well with the port to touch devices. There are also less than legal ways of playing old games from mobile devices.

XCom is available on the iPad, amazingly enough. It plays pretty much like the PC version of the game.

There are a variety of hex-based games available to play on tablets. If you're interested in those sorts of games, then you might want to dig up some reviews on the internet regarding games set in your favorite period.

One of the more unusual games, imo, is Sid Meier's Ace Patrol. It's a turn-based game of World War I aerial combat. Half of the nationalities, and most of the fighter models, aren't available unless you spend real money. But you can at least get a feel for it just with the basic game. There's also a Pacific World War 2 version of the game that plays more or less the same.
