It is in my opinion a very good sign that GW is sharing information about far out releases with customers.

This was a very special event, of course, but I derive hope from it nonetheless.

A free event with previews of models beyond what's being released next week along with new box sets that actually have a discount. I haven'tbeen this optimistic since seeing the 40K 2nd Ed Imperial Guard previewed in a display case at Games Day 21 years ago.

Indeed. This clammed up approach they've had at previous events is bloody stupid.

Runnin up on ya.

I wouldn't be surprised if the resurrection of specialist games is due to the new CEO which would explain why BB isn't finished. New initiatives take time.

Look at me being all positive, I may need to check my temperature.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I've noticed everyone being much more positive! It's almost as if showing off future projects (as opposed to treating leaks like religious heresy) and offering cheaper bundles resolves the major complaints about GW! And here I was thinking people were just mindlessly attacking them for their success

Also, we may see Adeptus Titanicus (Titans vs Titans) before BB since it's easier to do ^^

FW has access to plastic manufacture now and can/may do this with more HH plastic stuff in the future (aswell as will use this for their specialist games)

Very exciting, Lady Atia! I know Titanicus would fill that role of large scale 40k battles that I would never venture into on the 28mm scale range.

Yeah, but wouldn't Titan vs. Titan campaign be planned for Mars rebellion?

By the way, did anyone else miss some Slaanesh in the exhibition centre? No diaznettes, no FW Keeper of Secrets? Or do they do that on purpose, so children wont go screaming "moooom, what are those?"

Titan Legions or Epic certainly would interest me more. Blood Bowl could be the most awesome game ever, but with no group to play with, it's absolutely worthless to me.

At least with Epic I can paint two forces and then beg someone to maybe play with me. But games that rely on a campaign fall flat for me.

The bundles are cool, but some of those are only a good deal because of how stupidly priced the models are otherwise. Stepping back and looking objectively, the number of models on some of them for $85 USD is nowhere near the value we saw from the 2004 era batallions/army boxes and earlier. I know.. inflation, material costs, these hard economic times, etc... but it's just not enough to win me back over, especially with the splat book fever they still have.

The specialist games, I'm on board. The flagship games are dead to me though.

Thing is, the Specialist Games were already getting stupid expensive when they pulled the plug. BFG plastics had doubled and so had Warmaster blisters while Epic had gotten new vehicle sculpts that were selling for crazy high.

If they do realistically priced starter sets, that would be great. But I reckon BB will be $150 just based on BaC alone. When you make FFG look reasonably priced...

I haven't seen those since the remodelling, and I've been through a few times.
FW KoS is also missing from the FW physical store, I speculate due to the assembly.

These look very promising!

It looks like they are on 32mm bases, which would make them massive too.

I've been waiting sooooo long for Bloodbowl to return, but now I feel disappointed. Not sure if it's because of monopose models, sculpts, or just being so done with GW, but I'm not impressed.

Those are probably monopole from the starter set. I imagine the team boxed sets will be modular kits. At least I hope so!

Also, I don't say this often, but good job GW! Bringing back specialists games, showing off future releases, and giving out discounts. I'm sure it won't last, but it's still pretty cool.

Did they show off the Fyreslyery or whatever they're called?

Don't answer; that was rhetorical. GW aren't showing off their future products. Their only adult-run studio (FW, and by extension Specialist Games) are talking about their upcoming releases.

Just checking in from Bugmans at lunch, so far it's been a very enjoyable day; got met by a greeter at the door pointing out all of the different things they've got on, got some cool stuff from the shops and a walk round the studio and the exhibition.
Everyone's been really friendly and chatty, not just the studio guys, but the ordinary staff too; wanting to know what armies you collect, what memories you have of the early days, etc. There's a real positive vibe around the place. Now for some Bugmans and then try my hand at the conversion competition.

Hm, shame that I can't find a better angle photo of the Mastodon. Looks promising.

EDIT: Ah, looks like other sources had slightly better ones. Yup, that's a nice model, but the promised 300 pound pricetag is a bit much for me.

Apparently they're selling off A5 codexes at 50% off today.

Which is super if you were in there yesterday trying to buy one and were told they were now discontinued. Handed all my Christmas money over for the full size version.
I'd laugh.

It's a kit that would look amazing if you lit all that interior detail up with tiny LEDs, but that would require quite a lot of complicated resin work carving out wiring channels and the like. At 40 models, is this the biggest Space Marine transport they've ever made?

Just got back, pretty good given it was free. A5 codex were on offer at 50% off but notably only chaos daemons, Astra militarum , tyranids , chaos marines, which I believe are all due a new one soon ? Also finecast and metal assassins, end times blister characters, blightkings, old lizardmen boxes. As well as Corus , Forgeworld had 2015 event models , a modelling masterclass heresy book and raven guard assault squad, which looked great and decent price compared to other legion specific units.

Video game section was good , lot of playable demos and I'll be eagerly awaiting talisman heresy. Total war Warhammer definite must buy as well now, the scope and detail are amazing. Was surprised no battle fleet gothic though.

Studio area , nothing much to add that others haven't said, Bloodbowl Q4, its GW not Forgeworld.

Biggest overall impression was it was a very positive vibe, and the staff came over as genuine hobbyists rather than the typical GW "what can I sell you now" staff instore.

The miniatures hall was missing quite a bit of 40k chaos marines and daemons.

Worth me going as I live local

That's an interesting tidbit about BB being a GW Studio project and not FW and/or Specialist Games Studio. What gave you this impression? Did someone say that this was a Studio project?
