you could phone call a hobby store and phone in a death strike missile attack since it has infinite range at one point

and azreal technically had a plasma cannon making him one of the only space marines HQ's on foot with access to a heavy weapon (possibly the only one i think that wasnt a dreadnaught) (his combi plasma had a blast plate alt fire and infinite charges). in the current dark angels codex technically you can make azreal move at the speed of a bike yet be on foot

also as a fun case of messed up 40k logic:

according to the last dark angels codex walking wasnt actually any more maneuverable or faster than taking a jump pack as a company master could buy both a relic bearer and a jump pack and the relic bearer would always move at his speed and always be as close to base2base as possible. the relic bearer cannot jump therefore walking = jump pack leaping. this also means that you didnt need a jump pack to deepstrike technically as the relic bearer could again preform this feat. and people wondered why i kept bringing him, he was a constant source of subtle smiles and silly laughs from me leaving opponents confused. i ended up feeling bad for him and grafting a jump pack to one of my relic bearers

If you have a Iron Priest in a Space Wolves army you can take as many Servitors as you want. They don't take up a slot in the FoC and each one is like 10 points. With a minimum points HQ, 2 troops, and Iron Priest you have enough room for 162 individual Servitors in your 1850 point army.

Ultramarine Sergeant Chronos doesn't have to be in the tank you buy for him, but teleports there once it is destroyed.

You can technically charge an Ally of Convenience.

You can congo line units from a Void Shield Generator and all are protected by the shield.

You can squish MC/GMC's with vehicles because if it can't move more than 1" away from the enemy unit, it is destroyed.

Vulkan He'stan can give MC melta weapons to LotD.

I always hated the fact that a soldier has equal chances of hitting the back of a massive, unmoving, bright yellow tank they are an inch away from as they do hitting a soldier in a camo cloack hiding in the trees 24 inches away.

No rule prevents you from deploying a unit so that the models are not in unit coherency. Unit coherency does not come into play until your first movement phase.

So you could get more mileage out of a bubble-wrapping unit by spacing 3+ inches apart to counter a turn one melta strike.

Except that they don't. Cover doesn't really reflect how hard something is to hit at all, otherwise it would still apply on top of your armour save. As it is, that bright yellow marine standing directly in front of you is no easier to hit than the green one lurking in the bushes on the other side of the table, and against most shooting the cover save that the green guy technically gets grants him no actual benefit.

Cover makes a model harder to kill (but only if his armour wouldn't already protect him anyway) but no harder to hit. And range makes no difference whatsoever. The monolith right in front of you and the scarab on the other side of the table are both shot with the same degree of difficulty.

Exactly. I know it's probably not what OP had in mind but it's just one of those stupid, counter intuitive things that bugs me about how the rules were written.

having the edge of a base of a model in a piece of terrain, and claim a cover save.

Or shooting at a wraithknight with your unit of Lootaz with a unit of gretchin inbetween- It gets a 5+ cover for having shot thru your own unit... (not that the cover save matters, but still)

Also, when a vehicle fails a difficult terrain test entering a piece of terrain- it legally stops .00000001" into the terrain.

For a while you could have a seer council with an unlimited number of warlocks.

Hunter Killer missiles still have infinite range so you can snipe someone on the other table if you want.

Killing terminators with pocket knives and rifle butts amuses me.
(of course the whole mismatch between what Marines are supposed to be and what they are on the table goes all the way back to Rogue Trader)

Drop pods falling from orbit, but somehow everyone just steps out of the way in time, they never land in a bad spot, and marines can just hop out and start kicking ass.

At least last edition you could, and I believe by a strict reading you still can, launch an assault in an opponent's turn with a unit which disembarked from a destroyed (but not exploded) vehicle.

They did, then removed it when they released the 7th Ed codex.

That said, it's now a ranged weapon with a 3" range, so you have to get lucky with 6s.

Actually that reminds me... RAW you can't actually 'shoot' a Wreckin' Ball at all because the weapon doesn't have a barrel to measure along so you can't determine LoS... Pretty silly (though kinda Off Topic since it's something you can't do )

Stun a flyer, forcing it into an 18" move directly forwards. Put a grot in its path 17.9" away. The model attempts to move, fails to move 18", and is immediately destroyed. Because GW is still too stupid to figure out a way to make the base of a flyer never count for anything.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
