Fantastic work guys! These look great! I'll try my hand at posting some pics of what I have done so far later this evening if I can. Although, the stuff here really puts mine to shame!

My first predator.

My first marine, I may come back to add some camo...

Stalkers...

Infants...

As I said I'm kind of embarrassed to post these compared to you guys. I think they look better in person than here. Oh well, let me know what you guys think!

Some potentially useful toys coming out in April. Diecast APC, Hadley’s Hope Daihotai Tractor and Space Jockey look like they might be close to 28mm scale.

Your Aliens look fantastic, lovely and dark but with all detail visible. The bases are great too, alongside the models they really work to create a scene.
The Marine and Predator don't quite have that "magic", but are good tabletop quality. The fact that you managed to paint the netting means you're already a step ahead of a lot of people attempting these. Maybe the Marine could have a bit of shading wash on his shirt, the colour looks very similar to the flesh in the pic and while that's not a bad thing inherently, a bit more shadow would define it more clearly so it's easier to see in that vital first impression.

Really like the idea of the bright green blood on the bases, obviously those aliens have had themselves some predator !

@ Grumpae : Fantastic !! Your alien look very dark and irrestible !!

Maybe a little gloss varnish on them would achieve your paintjob in a perfect way ^^

Concerning your UCM and Predator, they are very good but I think a little brown ink or black ink would create some very good contrast ^^

I like the pred blood on your alien bases !!

More !! ^^

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I haven't painted minis in almost 15 years, so I'm a bit rusty. I have redone my marines and will try and post up some pics tonight. I took the advice to darken the shirt color and have added a desert camo pattern to the clothing. I chose desert as I already had the kahki color on them. I also finished my Predators, the last two I did a darker skin color. On the first one, I was trying to get a ballance between the greenish tint and brown. Ultimately it failed and it just looks pale. The new ones are darker and have more contrast.

FWIW: I would normally agree with Morikun about the gloss varnish, however I think your Aliens are already perfect, and the gloss would blur the detail and detract from the whole.

@Ktulhut, thanks, that was my opinion as well! These pics aren't the best for showing the detail...

Sos guys! I was putting the crusher together this evening and one of the back legs doesn't touch the ground! I think it just looks silly the way it is now. I've heard that you can heat this stuff up with water and then bend it how you want then cold shock it to set again. Is this true? Any advice? I've never worked with resin models before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Try drybrushing the gloss. It only hits the high spots where there would be reflections and won't goop up the detail.

I dunno, that will end up looking pretty weird on these models. A satin varnish might work, but really I think they look great as they are.

Grumpae, yeah, you can heat the model to bend it, although I'd recommend against using cold water to re-set it (it seems to weaken the resin), just hold it in place as it gets back to room temp. Also, if you've already glued the tail on, try not to get that in the hot water.

Personnally, my crusher is not well planned but I solved the problem with a base adding some bitz under his foots ^^

After that, no problem at all ^^

This just the big GW flying base ^^

May I invite you to drop an eye on the following :

All the making of my Crusher (mini + base) are detailed in one single post ^^

I really like your pred and your marines but I really think that a little brown or black ink on them would be fine ^^

Do you mean the ellipse 120mm that comes with models like the valkyrie, marine flyers, trygon etc, Morikun?

Grumpae - I like the predators, especially the ranged one. Hard to judge the marines from those pics, although the shirts definitely seems to have more contrast with the skin and trousers now.

My figs earlier in the thread were drybrushed with gloss. Check them out...

Personnally my minis are brushed with 50% water/50% glos varnish and the Head has 3-4 pure gloss varnish coats ^^

I'm still debating the gloss. I guess at the end of day its not t the end of the world if I don't like it as I have many more aliens where they came from!

Last night I actually had a really good time assembling minis! Built the queen, praetorian, power loader, and berserker. I can't wait to start painting these! I also fixed the leg of the crusher. I got the hottest tap water I could, soaked the leg to the point where I wanted it to bend for about a minute, bent and held it until it cooled, and voila! It now stands on all fours! Thanks for the advice and support fellas!

Personnaly, last night, I started assembling my Predalien + stamping the base...

On the other side, I'm preparing a "top secret alien project" ^^

I ordered a set of those ball ended embossing tools so I can make some cool custom infested bases. So I'm holding off on making the bases until those arrive. I'm pretty excited about that.

Morikun, where did you get all those neat bits that you added to the crusher base? Also, where did you get the base, are they available seperately? Oh, and a top secret alien project!? You tease!

^this. Try it on one figure. I'd advise a quick drybrush of lighter silver on the "gills" and head ridges before you do, personally.

Again, my opinion though is that they look great as-is. Coming from someone with 60+ gloss varnished Aliens.
