Hey guys I need some help here.

So I am quiting fantasy and joining 40k, my father gave me 1k fir christmass and said buy your self some of those model things. My wife said I need to since it is what he wants.

Now should I grab something big like a titan or a bunch of little guys? What would you do? Also I am starting word beaers.

I need to go to work every day.
Millions of people on welfare depend on me.

Honestly, I would say lots of little guys, big things like Titans sound great until you realize you'll very rarely get to use them unless you play a ton of Apocolypse games (which is where most titans are seen). You can a lot more utility out of tons of little guys. Also, do you mean 30k word bearers or 40k? Because 30k word bearers are so much better than their 40k counterparts.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Depends what you want to get. The Betrayal at Calth set that just came out could be really good for you. They are all 30k models, plus none of them have actual markings, so you can paint them as any legion.

Sounds like you could buy some of GW's forts, they look pretty sweet specially the chaos stuff. Would go well with an army.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

If you like Word Bearers, you should get the Betrayal of Calth set. It has loads of nice models.

And yes, you absolutely should get ONE Imperial Knight Titan. Many Knight households turned to support the Warmaster, and would have attached to Word Bearers or other Chaos Legions.

Between those two boxes I think that's a great start, and you can add plenty more later.

For a large sum of money? I would buy two of the betrayal boxes, preferably the bundle from forgeworld that adds the custom upgrades to hold onto and add to more used marine bits to add to the army. Get at least one of the Word Bearer possessed from FW, as they are way better quality then the GW ones. Finally get like 4-5 boxes of daemon troops to summon, a good start being pink horrors and plaguebearers. Get a daemon prince, or whatever model you like to use it as one, as its important on the off chance that you roll dark apotheosis. Assuming you are completely new: get the core rules, chaos space marines codex, and I would suggest getting the Crimson Slaughter book (or copy the rules onto a laminated sheet from a friend, its literally one page of rules) as these rules work perfect for word bearers
