Should I deep strike him with some termies?

Should he ride in a Land Raider with some termies?

What's left of Cadia

I think the go-to move with him is to take him in a giant blob of cultists and make them into plague zombies. Then he can have 30 meat shields between him and any nasty things coming his way

I second what War Kitten says,

He lacks eternal warrior, meaning a single dreadnought, Power Klaw (provided the wielder is S5), etc will take him out - so he needs a meatshield. It doesn't help that he's only STR6 with the manreaper and strikes at I1.

Thousand Sons: 3850pts / Space Marines Deathwatch 5000pts / Dark Eldar Webway Corsairs 2000pts / Scrapheap Challenged Orks 1500pts / Black Death 1500pts

The Manreaper is Force and at S6 on top of being a Daemon weapon. Have something else in his squad be able to kill tanks.

That said, if you aren't going to bother with Zombies, simply don't bother with Typhus. He's good, but NOT 230 points good. If you're not going to use the Zombies, a generic MoN Lord will do much better and for cheaper.

Ah so it really isn't termies I should stick him with.

I do have zombies in my planned lists... Maybe I'll just have the termies deep strike separately or get something else for the points.

I haven't done it, but I've seen him dropped with a squad of 3 Nurgle oblits. Did amazing. Oblits have pfist and tons of dakka, Typhus has a force weapon for MC's and can maybe roll Iron Arm, and they can all DS into the backfield and generally have a great time. 4 models with 9 wounds all at T5 2+5++. Is that worth approx 500pt? That depends on what your fighting.

I believe with the versatility to threaten literally every unit in the game, thats the way to do it.

I forgot oblits could DS... Interesting idea

Only problem with that is those Oblits+Typhus will be a massive fire magnet, and 3 termies won't last long in today's meta. The 30 zombies are arguably better

Doesn't he have to roll all on Nurgle
If not I've been playing him wrong, and terribly I might add.

Typhus+Zombie...

Add Huron to infiltrate Typhus and his boyz... 'cuz he's sooooooo slow.

Otherwise, don't take him.

Oh definitely add Huron, simply because Fear is a gakky Warlord trait.

Hmmm maybe I ought to just run a kitted out sorcerer instead of Typhus....

A Nurgle Sorcerer is a terrible idea.

Pretty much, you don't really get much benefit from a Nurgle Sorceror that Typhus doesn't already give you.

35 zombies should be enough right? Just one huge blob?

I'd say maybe two. It'd only be 300 points total, but the main issue is that Scatterbikes and Wraiths just MUNCH them before they can get close.

My recommendation for something I did that's somewhat mediocre is 2 full squads of zombies, Typhus and Obliterators in a squad together, and Huron as a Warlord to Infiltrate the Zombies as the average roll will be 2. Simply deploy the Typhus squad as close as possible and such.

I've read a report from a tourney where Typhus did extremely well with spawns. They add a lot of mobility and help against s10 while he can tank with 2+ when needed and wreck stuff in mellee.

This is a good idea I've seen floating around - the spawn with the Mark of Nurgle to boost the toughness value to 6 - they'll make a good meat shield that's tough to wound. Plus they're fast across the board if I remember correctly

The only I've had doing that is that Typhus really slows the Spawn down.

Spawns are for sling shoting him into combat. That 6 extra charge range really matters

Look up a dude called Necrosius (New siege of Vraks book). He has some stats like sorcerer/lord, but gets a pretty sweet auto hit focused witchfire, lets you take plague zombies as troops, gives said plague zombies furious charge, is ML2, and is about 150pt.

Technically his zombies are the Siege of Vraks plague zombies, which are cheaper, and better than the CSM zombies. I ran him in a game over the weekend in a unit of 50 zombies. Zombies charged a TWC blob, necrosius broke off and messed up some wolf guard. Zombies reduced the 6 TWC, to just the lord over 4 turns. There were 10 zombies left, and the wolf lord with 1 wound.

Necrosius would have kept being amazing, but I rolled a 22 on the stupid boon table. Instant spawn.

Necrossius is pretty sweet, but his main problem is the zombies he creates are non compulsory troops choices. You still need to fill the two troops slots if running a standard cad.

Help me, Rhonda. HA!

Does Necrossius' Zombies take up any specific slot? Or, are they in extra non-slot like the Ork mek charcters?

The reason I'm asking is that'd be a good take for The Purge detachment... as it doesn't have any "troop slots".
