Let's see, how would genestealers react?

How many are shooting at us? Not enough? Charge forwards and kill them. Too many? Go to the shadows and ambush them.

How many do we have? Lots? Charge forwards and kill them. Not enough? Go to the shadows and ambush them.

How close are they to the patriarch? Very close? Kill them at all costs. Not very close? Go to the shadows and ambush them, or kill them now if we can do it without raising an alarm.
(I could keep going, but you get the point)

As for dangers of cultists: Not terrible by themselves, in comparison to a trained soldier with a gun. Just willing to givd life and limb for their cause. Hybrids are more durable, but it's the mixture and numbers that make them deadly. That, and while you face the frontal assault, they're smart enough to cut off your exits as well, and tighten a noose as they can close in.

My death korps found hunting them with flamers, full hazzed gear and such effective. Oh and the fact there grim as hell and totally fatalistic to dangers.

Tunnels, flamers are ideal.

Ahh. So they're quite animalistic and sneaky.

I didn't mean all-out war though, as the little convo with Fairfax and his CCS shows, I was thinking of "sampling" and then dealing with the IG as seen fit.
I don't know how genestealers and "sleepers" who don't even know they're affected would react to this. Whether some kind of instincts would kick in, or it relies on proximity to the boss .

Not sure, maybe instincts so depend on person. Detached there part stealer, but response ins influenced by the human too.

I'm planning a chunk very soon, the grim korps shall be back and grim and faceless as ever. I love them, they never need names, personality and are utterly expendable.

Mushroom plantation rebellion is going to get some attention.

Because I have been neglecting them. And if anyone needs rations for there crusade. Just ask.

The closer to the patriarch the stronger of a control he has on them. Think of it like a second mind speaking to them via telepathy, as the Brood Mind is just that. They'll find themselves more than willing to do what he says, no matter what that is.

As soon as that patriarch wants a "sleeper" to do something, it will, without hesitation, follow that order. I hope this information is helpful. I've gathered a bit of information on the little critters during my travels, so I'm happy to help.

Is there a patriarch on Trisburg?

Sorry for asking so many questions, I just don't want Benlisted or someone to come back and be disappointed by what I'm doing. He also has the counter-mission, so I'm wary of making any meaningful progress and messing that up.

...My head hurts.

I think I have one, I killed the first though. None known on your planet. Take it as Fairfax is searching for info as to if or not?

I've been uping the grim to hunt them, blocking entire cities off, there resilient

Yes, there is.

In short, the more advanced the infection, the more aggressive they are.
However, the ones you'll encounter would be fairly low level. They may not even fully register their actions, or see that anything has changed. Some will be very flighty and nervous, others overly aggressive, just accenting their preference for fight or flight.

Most probably don't know where the bulk of the brood are, but have an urge to move out, and some (further developed ones) might be focused on intercourse and spreading the genes. (Again, a fairly touchy topic there I won't go into any more than I have to.)

Regarding sleepers, at low level, they pretty much all are. Many aren't even aware of their nature, they just want to move out and find something new. A bad case of wanderlust, if you will.

Thanks for the explanations.

Though "they all are" what? Sorry if I'm not following well.

I think of my crew, only Selka, having standard Commissariat and IG officer training, and possibly attuned astropaths, would know how to check for signs in those infected rather than born. I don't know what those signs are though. (Bjackjack?)
Wear your tinfoil, Garth, and don't get in any unmarked cabs.

Speaking of astropaths, strong chaos influence upsets psykers, does strong hive mind concentration have an effect?

I'm sure we do. Smudge can explain and confirm anything you need to ask.

Force wise we are fairly varied.

Read the crusade thread, should help you place yourself and get a idea of how things work, characters, and maybe ideas

First off, welcome to the Crusade of Fury! As for what you should know, head on over to the main thread (this is just the chat room), the first page will give you a pretty good idea of what the general premise of the Crusade is (just know that the Imperials are struggling at the moment). Then PM our GM Sgt_Smudge and let him know what faction you're bringing to the table, and maybe a little bit about it. After you get that settled post an introduction of your force in the main thread (i.e. if you're playing an Imperial faction have your leader send a message to Crusade Command announcing their arrival). This thread has a list of all the current forces (player and NPC controlled) on the first page. Good luck!

Ok, thanks guys! I've been reading the main thread (It's like a short book! Do you recommend I read all of it or just the latest pages?)

I already know some stuff about my army, I will PM Smudge tonight!

You don't have to read all of it (although it might help if someone references a past event). Reading the last few pages will give you a general idea of what's going on, but if you can read the whole thing. It's also a good idea to get to know who's playing what army, in case you want to try to ally with one of them (like my Marines and 2BJ1's Guard)

Well, dropped my first roll requests off, and hopefully I'll get an update for Fairfax's address written shortly.

From a storytelling PoV I kind of messed up my timing in the next update. Try and imagine it's simultaneous. It's a bit of forewarning for the troops, a bit of insight into why the commissar is so zealous, and hopefully Fairfax being convincingly friendly to the planet.

Roll results: ... I think Fairfax has just completely fethed up trying to introduce himself. Maybe he sounds drunk. I rolled for his cover story convincing Marcus.
Other stuff I've rolled for isn't in the next part.

Very true, I was thinking about those pompous brats that rule the planets because their mommies and daddies did before them. (And, as Ciaphis Cain points out, high chances of inbreeding so that family stays in power). Forgive me for that oversight.
