If you could somehow remove that embryo, and cut off all communication with the brood mind for an extended period of time, I'm not sure what's keeping that guy loyal to the 'stealers. Of course, that involves removing something latched to you, and becomes a physical attachment to you, and I assume he'd always be susceptible to the brood mind's influence.
Even that is a big shot in the dark, as I don't know if that would even work, if you could pull it off.

Lazzamore wrote: Buttery Commissar wrote: :O Those Orks better get here after I've started some meaningful work, because Fairfax has got literally no motivation to help Trisburg at the moment, especially after the recordings, and would just leave.
Honour be damned: He has 5-8 thousand civilians living on his ship, no way he and his crew are getting involved in any ship to ship combat and risking those colonists. He's essentially a pseudo politician and merchant, capable of fending off advances, not waging war.
If he's already working, he may feel obliged to assist. Maybe.
So does that mean I'm not allowed to come out of warp yet? 'Cause I really wanted to do it now... I guess maybe I'll just go sulk in the corner then...
In the politest way possible, it would be incredibly inconvenient from a writing POV right at this very moment. You've got a governor and an investigation team literally mid-conversation. I'm then supposed to land and investigate a mildly suspicious regiment.
As I just explained, if a warband of Orks pops up in the middle of that phone call, I am simply not coming down there, and it renders the last week or so of their travelling / planning pointless. I don't have an army, there's nothing I can contribute to the fight, and I'm not going to park my big shiny space car outside the planet full of Orks.
By all means come over, it's not a matter of "allowed". I'm not being mean by saying "I'm out if you do." It's the truth of what would happen. Fairfax is not an imperial force, and has no obligation to stay. Catching both parties unaware would be different. I guess he might feel the urge if he meets someone on planet who isn't a dick.
I really do apologise for the speed of my writing, but the last few back and forth posts have been from the same afternoon in Trisburg airspace, in some cases inside an hour. If your ship can travel across a sector inside the time it takes for someone to answer the vox, we have slight chronological issues.

If you want something to write about, Lazzamore, you could make up a daemon invasion on your ship that you repulse, just for the sake of writing something. Character building (as much as you can for an ork), action, and you have something to do in the meantime. It seems like a fair compromise to me.

Well, I won't post it tonight after all. But I must confess I'm getting tired of being shooed away from planets, sorry I didn't realize just what Zombaz' coming would incur. Perhaps I'll find a good time to insert my forces tomorrow? I don't know, how long do you guys wait while travelling between planets? @2BJ1: Yeah, that's a good idea! I might do that, thanks!

I'm not trying to shoo you away... If what I'm saying doesn't make sense, I'm really sorry.
But picture how it is from my side of things, that I've spent the last week writing, and then I have to leave and junk the idea and of my draft posts if you land before I get to finish landing.
(I was writing hellish slow up until now, and keeping drafts because I was out there on my own without anyone waiting on me)
I'm the only writer who 110% cannot actually fight you.
Edit: Whoops, that's a higher % than intended.
To clarify, I was set a largely political mission because I don't have an armed force (I have a small and well meaning, but terrible PDF regiment, and one commissar). Dropping Orks in the middle of it pretty much blocks that, and runs me off the planet.
Edit2: I'll try and expedite what I was doing, get enough proof that we can report back regarding the cult. After that I can hopefully just bail, and find something quieter.
Problem is, Marcus and Marcus giving the troops a day off.
Guess I'll try my luck on rolling what we can do.

I didn't really want to overshadow Fairfax being a stone cold bastard; originally that update would have been split, with some mission plot in between, but I'm now holding people up with my molasses-pacing.

Give me a call and I can dispatch combat support. I could send a strike cruiser and some suport. There fast, I can be there quick and help cover your task.
I'm only on the next planet and rather well equipped
Maybe the Templets are also interested in seeing what Fairfax is like mission wise.

Well, if Fairfax finds evidence of the cult, he will contact anyone nearby.
If he doesn't, for whatever reasons, he likely couldn't give a feth what happens to Trisburg, but may let you know as he leaves.
That said, who would such requests be directed to?

Yeah, the main reason Buttery's been tasked to Trisburg is that it's within Imperial lines, and a relatively safe holding. If forces want to invade past that Imperial line without first establishing a base of their their own nearby, it's very hard to actually attack. (Seriously, there are pretty big negative modifiers attached!)
Buttery, are you referring to who to contact if you find the Genestealers? If so, Crusade Command is logical, but you might have other plans and choose to contact another force first so that CC don't realise how big of a problem it is. Also, if you let CC know, and an Inquisitor is told (or certain Space Marine chapters) Trisburg might even be considered for Exterminatus.

I was asking Jhe, but that was very helpful, thank you!
Realistically? I would probably make sure I was out of range of being blown to splinters before I told anyone, truth be told.
Hey guys, I'm a non military person who just visited a planet full of genestealers with my ship of thousands of colonists, that travels all over the universe, and did I mention I went down there in person? Guys? What's that growing red light?
Of course that's paranoia. It'd be a very short crusade if CC nuked everyone who looked at a threat closely.
As an aside, I haven't actually decided that the Ordos Chronos are on the Guinea. Fairfax is just very thorough, and wanted to scare the nosy commissar away.
Curious, did his threat come across as unpleasant as I intended? It was hard to articulate what I was thinking, in terms of a biological fingerprint.

Hands up.., I know nothing about Astartes chain of command, if I'm honest.
I started 40K on IG, never learned Space Marines, so all I know are how to visually distinguish the ranks (skulls, laurels, etc), not who can order who.
Though if any of your guys makes it over, the poor seneschal may have to invest in a gag for the commissar. Assuming he survives meeting the governor.

Maybe 4\5 months left on baby sheaprd.
Ok so expect her to be training for a while.
Anyone else got any job suggestions for a pregnant knight captain ?
She can run training programs, after that?

That sounds excellent. I did not want her to be a side character to Shepard solely. I wanted her to be a tad more interesting than that. Being one of few female characters I kinda don,t want to sideline her to support role.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Maybe 4\5 months left on baby sheaprd.
Ok so expect her to be training for a while.
Anyone else got any job suggestions for a pregnant knight captain ?
She can run training programs, after that?
I think she should train a protégé to take her place while she watches/takes care of the baby.
That sounds excellent. I did not want her to be a side character to Shepard solely. I wanted her to be a tad more interesting than that. Being one of few female characters I kinda don,t want to sideline her to support role.
Maybe have a pseudo Mother/daughter or Mother/son thing go on with the protégé.
A promising female knight could work, plus it helps balence the crusade gender ratio
Crusade of Character building is a go.

I think we found our new meme gentlemen (and ladies possibly). So now we have 2 Ork WAAAAGH's to deal with (and a 3rd on the way), things are certainly going to get interesting around here.

I think you're underestimating what pregnant ladies can do if fit. She may not be able to actively fight, but many women I know stayed in work until month 8, doing stock and checkout duties.

It would certainly be interesting to see. I could try and come up with an apprentice for Lilliana. The Path of the Eldar book has some good bits about Elder Farseers mentoring the younger ones (and it's also a great place to get Eldar names)
