Srtike cruisers are also armed with bombardment cannons, instead of the forward firing lance battery the Dauntless have. Plus i really couldnt see anything lower than a firestorm class frigate touching a Strike cruiser.
Edit: A Endeavour or Endurance class would you do nicely.

So basically, they lose out on a ship to ship weapon in favor of a space-to-surface weapon. That makes them even less likely to come out on top agaisnt other ships.

If worse came to worse, you'd be receiving a lot of chapter serfs armed with bolters and shotguns. They are probably a little less trained than stormtroopers, and are tuff as nails.

It can be used in ship-to-ship combat to great effect. The high power of the warheads will literally render armour plating irrelevant, and can tear an enemy vessel to shreds in mere moments.
