Oh, because there were tensions in the previous Crusade.
I solved the tension with Earthshakers and Hellguns, and tehn got outplayed by the IG who made fool of us all, was nice. Good times.

That's quite the can of worms...
Essentially, in the previous crusade, they hijacked loyalist artillery and blew up a lot of loyalists, space marine and guardsmen alike. They then executed or mind wiped the survivors except a select few they didn't realize survived (other players main characters). They also are remaining loyalist technically, but killing your past comrades doesn't end well.
In this crusade, we have one of the guardsmen who survived working as an armsmen and isn't happy with the lot, but doesn't have the evidence to attack the scions for what they did. No one has that evidence, really. Also, my Kroot are hunting the same man Bob is, so it's a friendly race, and neither faction knows the other is hunting the traitor.

Does anyone know if there are spies in Warhammer 40,000? I'm kind of thinking of doing spies because no one else seems to be doing that.

You could do Imperial assassins. Note that they wouldn't do huge assaults or anything, but would certainly be a cool angle to write from. I suppose Eversor's could be used in assaults from time to time, but those are rather expensive to just throw away.

But the only real spy assassin is the Callidus and those are all women, if I am not mistaken. I don't really trust myself with writing female characters as main characters.

And it's not that hard writing female characters, you just have to be sure to not do anything over-the-top

Some Inquisitors are hands off like that. Your "army" so to speak could be his/her retinue or private army who sets out do carry out his/her orders

Inquisitors are extremely varied. You have some that lead armies, and some that are a bit more subtle. I'm not sure you could say that an Inquisitor is a "spy", but some of them may try to infiltrate the ones they seek to destroy (or have their retinues do that)

Ok, so on tangent, if I have a sneaky Inquisitor with two other followers and I do badly with "rolling," do my dudes die?

Let me give you an example here. One of my two forces in this Crusade is an Imperial Knight force (consisting of 4 Knights). If I do badly on a roll, I don't necessarily lose a Knight. My Knights might get badly damaged, or the pilots themselves might get hurt. But I won't lose a character (i.e. the Pilots), unless I actually want to. Characters have a fair amount of plot armor in this, determined by the poster themselves to a degree. Common mooks might die by the dozen, but characters will just get injured. So in your case your Inquisitor and his buddies might get messed up something fierce, but they won't die unless you REALLY want them to die.

Not entirely sure what you mean here. Your intro could just be basically an introduction to your force (from their POV), and end with them heading off towards the planet or the moons?

Would it be ok if my guys start on the planet (Crion?). A lot of other people started them off planet so I was just curious,
