The AV14 wall will be daunting against my Tau, as will the huge amount of AP2 weaponry. Here's to hoping that I can get close enough with my Riptides, and roll well enough with my Ordnance weapons to punch through the armour!
What are your thoughts on this matchup? Who will walk away the winner? What would you change with the lists?

Against Astra Militarium I would much rather have HBC on my Riptides than IA. 12 Rending shots (24 with firestorm ability) will help much more against AV14 than IA

I think it's going to be very close on the math (working this out below). If we ignore Firestorm (since it would double the result in any scenario), we get the following when buffed to BS5:
HBC - 12 shots > 10 hits > 2 Rends (1.6, rounding up) > 1 HP (1.3, rounding down) and no modifier on the result if a pen.
IA - 1 hit > 1HP (~.66 rounding up) with a +1 modifier on pen result
So with this, it does look like you're right, though IA has a chance of clipping multiple vehicles, etc... but I think I would still give the slight edge to the HBC.
With that said, this is not a tailored list, but rather what I'm hoping to run at Adepticon so it's an attempt to account for all variety of things (on-demand AP2, template interceptor, etc...) where running only HBC could fall flat on its face (e.g. against Pod Grav Centurions). I did run triple HBC Riptides in a game last night against drop pod sisters, however, and it was extremely strong (especially while all had SMS instead of Fusion). As it stands, I'm going to test both out and see where it gets me! My models all have the weapons magnetized in either case!

Massive victory for the Astra Millitarum. Some misplays on my end, and horrific dice rolls, decided the game by the end of turn 2.
