Hello all

I'm thinking of leman russ conversion. I wish to keep the "feeling" of original leman russ and 40k catch, but I also want some kinda "modern warfare" leman russ.
IMO original leman russ is cool, but just a bit ugly and too tall to be a tank. Especially I don't like whole chasis and body of the LR tank.

I hope to make something with 1/48 scale modern tank, like turret swap or something other. Which modern tank would be best fit for LRBT conversion?

Thanks

I think you get quite a nice modern aesthetic from using the Chimera chassis as the basis for the Russ.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

By 'modern', you mean you don't want to use a 20th century tank? The US Grant/Lee is the only common tank which matches the Russ's turret/hull weapon combo (it almost certainly inspired GW when they designed the Russ), although you may be able to squeeze a heavy bolter onto the hull machine gun port of some other WW2 tanks.

If you also want your tank to have sponsons, you'll need to do some converting.

What other vehicles are in your army? Ideally, you want a tank which at least vaguely matches the look of those other vehicles. Flinty's idea is a good one, presuming you don't also hate the Chimera look.

Thanks, I also saw this pic, I agree that really good work. But I also wished a tank like small-scaled-Baneblade-style Leman Russ, like

That model looks like a custom-designed one, and it seems there are no conversion kit on sale like that one. So, I was looking for any 1/48 or 1/35 modern tank that might bring good conversion possibility.

Thanks. I'm just a beginner to the 40K and AM. I wish to have some decent-looking, modernized style armored company, and building a long term plan for conversion (include magnetize) and painting.
Some of the WW2 era tanks are great, but I was also looking Challenger or Abrams or T-90AM modern MBTs.
That Chimera-based-conversion looks awesome, but I still want my russes like small-sized-Baneblade.
I would reuse the turret of LRBT, or use the turret of Predator tank for the continuous "40K-tic style and feeling", but the problem is the body. I'm looking for conversion kit or 1/48 model to make conversion.
