If he's a buffmander, he should be lounging on a chair and reading a book, all the while he's still carrying the team.

I don't like it, not because it isn't a good model, as it's actually a rather interesting idea, but because it doesn't really make me think of a Buffmander.
I feel like a Buffmander should look more stately, and less actiony, think of the Creed model, where he almost looks like a manager taking charge of things than he does a soldier. He's shown as either very calm or directing, as opposed to an action hero, and that works for him, but a Buffmander probably takes that to a different level due to the amount of technical systems they operate during combat. I think that's really what should be captured in a Buffmander model, a sense of leadership while operating a lot of systems to enhance that leadership.
That being said, I think the model you made is pretty cool and works for a Tankmander. More so, none of this criticism is to say this can't function as a Buffmander, because it can easily stand in for one, just that if you're aiming to go that extra level in design there are things you can improve about it in my opinion. Honestly, the only thing I can say if you're aiming for a more general look to the suit, while also keeping it epic, is that some of the green stuff can use cleaning up, but otherwise the model is really nice.

My one criticism: His hands have too many fingers.
Otherwise, looks great. The reposing is very nice.

Well, my Tau army is the alien auxiliaries*, no tau, so I have given all the squad leaders a melee weapon appropriate for their species. Humans get chain swords, so I put a chain sword on the side for symbolic reasons.
That may also explain the fingers, or it could just be the number that come on a power fist.
*You know how Tau can't travel in the warp as fast as other races? Imagine if the Tau took some human merchant ships that came with defected worlds, refit them with Tau tech, save the warp drives and shields, and turned them into small warships. Now no Tau in their right mind would want to travel on these ships powered by unknown mysterious tech, so they recruited aliens from the empire to serve on them, promising them citizenship and such for service in this advanced, rapid response force.

The new pose genuinely makes me think of someone leading, as opposed to someone being more of an action hero. Also, the decision to make him pointing down, with his stance on a rock edge makes it feel like he has gotten the high ground to survey the battlefield and more, which helps the image of a general.
I'm not sure how I feel about the disco ball on the back, but it's not exactly bad, and is creative.

Fix this and the revamp would look great.
