Time to pick what we're painting next month! As usual, the poll will run for 2 days, with the winner being next month's theme and the runner up going forward to the poll for the the month after.

Without further ado, the options:

Fear of the Dark: the model should be associated with night/darkness/shadows. Anything from a psyker dealing in dark magiks to a shadowy, stealthy assassin in the shadows.

Winter Is Coming: Your model should in some way be associated with winter, cold, snow or ice. This could be conveyed though the model choice, basing, colour scheme or any other way you can think of!

Size Matters Not: Your model should be something either significantly smaller or significantly larger than an average human in its respective scale. For example, a Dwarf/Halfling/gretchin or a bulky Ork, a model in a large armoured suit or even a giant!

Up Close And Personal: Your model should be focused on close combat. Models with guns are fine, so long as a melee weapon features prominently on the mini or the pose indicates it is involved in melee.

As usual, the poll will run for 2 days! Get voting!

I voted for the size one ... the first 2 topics, I can't think of what I would paint. But for the size and cqc topics I have something in mind.

Voted for size as well.

Though judging off the comments, it seems this is going to be another case of votes from the people not taking part swinging the poll balance.

It's a shame because I'd like to do a 2ft dragon that's on my workbench.

Perhaps the dragon is getting up close and personal!

I could probably find something for all of those except winter. I voted for Size Matters Not, but so far it looks like the up close one is winning.
Fear of the Dark: Tau Stealth Suit. Shame I'm already doing my Assassins, as they would have fit this theme perfectly!
Winter is Coming: As I said, nothing I have fits the theme, and if I do a base in winter theme it would clash with my other bases a little too much. Maybe I could do a few LotR dwarves on snow bases or something.
Size Matters Not: I could probably do my Ghostkeel suit for this, or perhaps, dare I say it, my Stormsurge (haven't actually started painting the thing yet, maybe I should hold off and hope!)
Up Close and Personal: Just about anything from my Khorne Daemonkin army would work for this one!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Somehow I can't see it working.
Maybe not 2ft, but I was gonna do the red guy at the back of this (googled) image. It comes in a microwave sized box, and this picture is no earthly use.

Would a Warboss with an attack squig be OK for Up Close and Personal?

I voted dark, since I can do a Ghostkeel or some Stealth Suits, but the size one is ok too since the Ghostkeel works there too and I could always work on my Riptide or Broadside.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

Yeah, any kind of CQB unit or model will do, so anything that operates at a shorter range than the 'standard' is fine. Models with shotguns, flamethrowers, grenades, breaching gear and similar are all perfectly acceptable!

Guardsmen prefer LDR as well. I've got nothing apart from more bloody commissars that fits it for 40K, and I'm not up for a third month of hatporn.
Will have to think, or give it a pass and hibernate in my squirrel nest of commissars. :p

I do have Daemonettes, but they're nsfw level of personal.

What do you consider less than standard range? Burst Cannons and Meltas generally have a shorter range, but I'd think it's pushing it a little to count them.

You should make a diorama with one of those types of tank Commissars that's in a more melee pose swatting away the claw of a Defiler or some giant beast.

Hellhound for the guard would be my suggestion for myself hmmm.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Actually, instead of Khorne Daemonkin models, I might just take a crack at painting my Tau Breachers, as they are definitely a close-quarters unit and they need some paint!
