Hello
I am considering expanding my daemon army in the direction of papa Nurgle, and consider adding GUO.
I plan to deep strike it near some forward – rushing elements’ icon (daemonettes / seekers), so he discharges some ply dakka and charges next turn, with Balesword in hand.

Did someone try him/it?
How it went?
What tactics work with GUO?
How GUO compares in usefulness with Daemon prince with MoN in your experience?

I have taken the GUO for a couple of spins, so my humble advice comes with a grain of salt:
- He is more cost effective than a Nurgle DP and considerably more durable. I also used a fast unit (in this case, daemonettes) to help guide him in [daisy-chained through Plaguebearers] a bit past midfield. He worked as a good combo with other fast units, and in my opinion his best use comes down to two scenarios:

1) Deepstrike him in with icons, ideally at the same time that 2-3 of your other threats hit midfield and/or the enemy startzone. Target saturation keeps him a bit safe from weight of fire. From my research, this seems to be the most popular method in which to play him.

2)Start him on the board, and have him play babysitter in your startzone and objectives. In my meta - filled with alpha striking marines and drop pods - this is not as bad as it sounds. He is quite adept at summoning as a secondary role, so he will always have something to contribute. Plus, he makes for a hardy warlord. Pappa' Nurgle protects, so the 'babysitter' role is actually a good fit.

He works well with a deepstriking unit of plaguebearers with an instrument to carry him out more reliably.

Like others said, you basically have a 100pt tax in the form of a PB unit. You NEED this dude in on turn 2, so a unit of 10PB with icon/instrument is very useful.

I bring a GUO pretty often, I like them a bundle. 2 greater rewards and ML3 biomancy makes then a tough nut to crack. They prove to be better than the named GUO, named DP, and Cor'bax Utterblight for the points as well.

With the GUO, deep strike him as close as humanly possibly to the center of your enemies army. You want to cause havoc and this dude is good at it. Remember that you have a template weapon as your primaris, and you can throw a defensive grenade on the turn you arrive. You want to make sure your opponent cannot get far away from you, so the closer the better. His high toughness will prevent your opponent from wasting bolter fire, and instead they will probably try for anti tank, if you have a soul grinder on the field too, it gives them some tough options.

Unless I am playing Dark eldar, or some sort of fast army, my GUO usually does pretty good. Makes for a good warlord too.

What about Scalathrax (cant remember how to spell his name off the top of my head). Anyone have luck fielding him?
