No event pack yet, but the blurb says you will need 2 painted armies.
Sounds odd, given you can normally just choose anything you bring up to some limit, why would you need 2 'forces'? Misprint?

Just when I am working towards ONE fully painted force to attend one of these events, they now want two!?!?

Yeah, it's quite strange. About the paint, GW employees do that while working so they don't understand why it takes time for the common people. What? How dare them to have a life outside of the Hobby?
About why they're asking for 2 painted forces, I thought of those;
- Being sure there would be opposing forces at each game of the "good alignment" so that it's according to the background (so that there wouldn't be two Stormcast Eternals fighting each other, something like that)
- Having a "third force" like monsters players have to kill or waves of invaders to repel, that each player will have to "build" with both of their pool or something like that.
- Obi-wan Kenobi.
Hope we'll get these packs not too late. It's good to have some time to get ready, especially when you're not living in UK...
Bottle, you can also build two separate forces from your collection; one about the Living and the other about your Undead. I believe you can do something nice with your awesome painted miniatures.

It's very rare for warhammer world events to allow unpainted armies. The last one day event is the first I've personally seen. I don't mind that, given those going are paying a good chunk of money for those events it isn't too unreasonable that they should expect to see a minimum level of paint on the armies. Part of the point of going to events is to enjoy the spectacle. The recent one day event that allowed unpainted stuff wasn't a pay for event.
For the 2 forces I was wondering whether it might be a small hero party type force and a larger 'army' type force.

Considering there isn't any such thing as an "army" in AoS, I don't understand what they mean. Hopefully it will be made clearer in the event pack. For instance, perhaps you will have to bring sets of models from two different factions (Chaos, Order, Death, Live, etc.)

Thanks man!
It won't be long till my death units can become a big army in their own right, so that's the plan :-)
Usually for these events a "force" or "army" is around 60 models, but I am sure the event pack will give the specifics.

Event pack for this is up.
Looks like my guess above was roughly right. You need a hero force and an army force. Sounds like the general theme is that you will play one side or the other, either you are playing the heroes or the 'mooks' in any given game.

£65 per person to attend.
Okay for someone by themselves to attend but as a family it'll be a lovely £230 for us to go along

Looks really fun. Sadly I can't make it as I don't have any models with the keyword MONSTER built and painted yet. I'll hold out for the next event and hope it's suitable. Hopefully something Fyreslayer themed!

What do you get for the £65? Entry and lunch for 2 days (maybe £15/meal?), but not even access to the museum? Ouch.

The two "armies" are as follows....
Army Size: One force made entirely of up to 5 heroes, and another force made up of 2 Monsters, a Hero and a Wizard and up to 30 other non-hero models of your choice (there are more details below in the Armies section).
Most of their event weekends now are themed, rather than being a normal tournament. Think of it as going down the club and playing some games over some fantastic terrain and a chance at winning some trophies/certificates

Yup. It's worth doing it once as it is a fantastic venue, the tables are really cool to play over and you get to play a bunch of people you have never met before.

I'd happily do it for the £65, but as its per person rather per entry then I can't. We play as a family and both my sons would want to attend though we'd participate as one entrant (my wife would also have to attend but would probably spend most her time in Bugmans).

Had word back from WW in regards to a father & son/s entrant :( :
"From our point of view, the big stickler is that we are uncomfortable with the idea of three people lining up on one side of the table against a single person. It's not what anyone else coming to the event would expect, and they would be well within their rights to come to us and ask for a single opponent to play against, as that is what they have paid for, which is something we would be keen to avoid!"

I am surprised, but I can see their point. Is it important to you that all three of you are actively engaged in the games?

No not at all, my youngest would probably not be able to manage a game by himself, and I think my eldest would still be making a number of errors but they'd be keen to be making the dice rolls etc and just learning whilst watching more than anything.

I'm in two minds about that. I'd be more than happy to see a Dad and his kid(s) lined up against me, as I'm all into encouraging kids to play these sorts of games and have a good time together, and it isn't some competitive tourney. On the other hand it would depend on how 'good' they were. I might get annoyed if I spent a couple of hours watching/listening to Dad trying to keep a sulky/poor concentration kid under control and distracting from playing the game that I paid for. But I'm a parent and sympathize, I'm not going to go off it at the first hint of trouble.

I'd totally understand the viewpoint of the opponent if my children started playing up, and at no point would I want their experience sullied by the behaviour of my son/s, thankfully they're both very well behaved boys for the most part (like all children they have their moments).

Well a date would maybe prod me to get on with my army faster, and I have no issue with kids, so if you do want a day at warhammer world give us a shout as I wouldn't mind a reason to visit. Maybe a couple of others who are closer might be tempted?
