Hello everybody,
I'm a starter to tau (normally i play sm or necrons) and I'm more a painter than a player.
I really like the model of the Supremacy armour and since i saw it the first time i wanted to paint and try Fielding it. Now the problem is, i don't know any of it's rules. And I shurely won't buy it if it's total Bulls**t to play. And I would also like to know which weapons I should take.
Greetings,
DestroyerG

You can get then from FW. The purchase screen has a link to the PDF.
Just note, its disgusting for what it can do.

I recall numerous "big dogs" in the community tried to point out how ridiculous this thing is but were often shouted down by vocal Tau players claiming "it's not that bad". From a very recent entrant to the Tau Empire, I can tell you that if a Tau player says those magical quoted words then they are just trying to rip your soul out of your army before crushing it into little pieces.
The Ta'unar is beyond stupid in terms of raw overall competitive power. The Wraithknight is often seen as being in the top three most under-priced models in the game....and yet a Ta'unar compares favorably to TWO Wraithknights. And it gets all the funky love of being in a Tau army where Markerlights and so many other juicy things exist.
The only real limitation to the Ta'unar compared to the Stormsurge is that it doesn't feature in any formations and - unless it gets an update/change in an oncoming Imperial Armor book - you can't use it in any of the alternate detachments, i.e. the Hunter Contingent. Stormsurges in a fully-powered (no ITC nerfs) Hunter Contingent are even more terrifying than a Ta'unar!
Of course, there's a few guide-lines to the Ta'unar you should be aware of. Don't be fooled into thinking it is an Imperial Knight equivalent and thus a-ok for use in regular games, the Ta'unar is the Tau equivalent of a Warhound Titan and should be treated as such. They do not belong in small or friendly games unless both players are fine with Titans, so if you do use it then make sure to talk to your opponents before-hand as a lot of players will flat out refuse to play against it.

So the only facts on this page are that the suit rules are on FW, ITC has banned it(though reecius is still very anti-tau based on his own words and that last ITC "poll"), and that its a beast.
that being said with the inclusion of escalation this model can be used in any game it has the points to fit into. I wouldn't call it the same as a warhound but it is close, and better through point value as well. I've played mine in a few large scale games and it's done well against most things though it's shield ability is a bit less amazing then i thought it to be originally(still bonkers though). dies easily to a double six on the D table as anything else.
It will most likley never be included in any codex formations unless FW puts out one with it in the new IA set to be put out soon.

It's something that is strong enough that I would give my opponent a heads up if your going to put it on the table in a casual game. If your opponent is not expecting it, the game can become very one sided.

(assuming non-ITC game)
Straight out the book games can include reavers and multiple other Lords of War. It's hardly out of the realm of imagination that any opponent can and/or will bring a strong Lord of War to a game. Most players are chill enough to ask and agree to a fast list change if you see something you didn't plan for across the table from you.
Don't feel bad for bringing a good unit to a game.

To me there is a difference between a good unit such as marine bikes or a wave serpents and things like the Ta'unar or WK, or space marine super friends squad. I find neither fun to play with or against.

Just don't get too upset if you never get to field it. It's still a pretty huge robot on the shelf.
Absolutely fine in apoc, though.

Whichever one gets to shoot first between a Tau'nar and a Warhound wins. The Tau'nar is 150 points cheaper. You're right, it's not the same as a Warhound, it's BETTER. There's no anti-Tau bias involved, it's just stupidly powerful.

Actually we had someone run the numbers and in an anti titan load out the Warhound usually comes out on top, but would be severely wounded and unlikely to survive the rest of the Tau army.
With a more mixed loadout it's a different story depending on what the Warhound has.
I can't wait until the Ta'unar is given some Anti-Titan weaponry.

It's pretty stupid. You'll have a hard time being able to play the game with Tau at all, with any kind of list, but if you seriously expect people to let you show up with that then prepare to be very disappointed. Don't buy it if you don't think it's not worth buying solely as a display piece, because that's all it's going to be.

I agree with Sidstyler, I'm a long time Tau-player and this was the first model I admitted was overpowered. I will never use this model in any sub 4k point game unless I have the express permission from my opponent.

The only thing that is overpowered about the Supremacy Armor is its points cost. Other than that it's just as nasty as other things certain armies can bring to the table (x2 Imperial Knights, Mechanicum Grav Kataphron MSU spam wrecks this thing super easy so its not invincible). I've been able to play with mine in a couple standard games but I have increased the point value to 800pts. which so far in my FLGS people have found to be an acceptable compromise. Also with the announcement of the new FW book containing the rules for it coming out hopefully within the next few months there's always the chance that it may be nerfed to a more appropriate point value.

Actually, the Taunar is pretty reasonable in todays 40k. It's mostly conventional weapons with moderate ranges, and only one D profile, for a single D plate (be it a 7" plate). It's Toughness and Wounds seems daunting with a 2+ save, until you account for Grav and D, which again puts the Tuna Supreme in the same bracket as Stormsurges for survivability. I'd be happy to see that many points tied up in so few shots on the other side of the table rather than tge more common 2-3 WraithKnights.

Not so much. The price seems fair to me, and I'm the guy with the all TDA GK army.

compared to what, it has nearly as much firepower if not more than a warhound, is more durable, has access to stomps, is nearly immune to shooting attacks and cost less than two knights.

Keep in mind, the upcoming IA book features Tau vs Red Scorpions/Admech so it rules will probably be in that and will most likely be updated from the current experimental rules.

Note that the current rules are not listed as "Experimental" so you can use it without any issue, however I would be surprised if they did not change up the points cost a little bit. I don't think its super undercosted but I don't think increasing its point value a bit more wouldn't hurt either.
