Hi guys

I have put a swap shop post up, but there seems to be no information. Does anybody know which countries this box set was sold in?

Then I can plan my assault on trying to find this or very similar boxes.

No idea but its a really nice set. Funny number of guardians though, 2x13 man squads.

I don't know but I would bet it's from Black Crusade (2001? 2002?) so if you can find WD from then it should tell you.

Personally I can't imagine it was not sold in the UK.

It wasn't from the Eye of Terror event. I still have White Dwarfs from then and there were not really "army boxes" sold from what I'm seeing. Plus, there's no Storm Guardians contained within the box and the addition of those bits was a huge deal at the time.

It could've been a tie-in box released alongside Codex: Craftworld Eldar, as I seem to recall the supplement having similar styling.

Not sure if this was a Black Crusade deal though, IIRC their Storm Guardians came with metal arms to turn them into dedicated assault units, but I could very well be wrong there.

As for the year Black Crusade took place in.. 2003!

OK, just hit the shelf with the old WDs. WD247 (Aug, US) is the issue after the Craftworld supplement was released. But in the mail order section in the back, there are 3 eldar boxes, the one in the OP being one of them. $200 US, $300 CDN. There was also a Beil-Tan Swordwind box and an Iyanden Ghost Warrior box.

Swordwind looks to have:
5 fire dragons
farseer
falcon
16 guardians
5 dark reapers
6 banshees
7 scorpians
8 DA
WL
Avatar
3 exarchs

Ghost Warriors
3 warlocks
3 WLs
16 guardians
farseer
2 weapon platforms
15 wraithguard

Fine, make me go back downstairs.

Aug 2000. IIRC the issues were a month off from you guys over the pond. The boxes may have shown up earlier or in other places. I just took a clue from this thread and looked at the WD that had the craftword expansion codex in it. When I didn’t see the box in that one, I checked the next issue and found it there.

That sleeve fits over a mail order double core game box? As most army deals came in at that time.

The contents would have been stockable boxes, each UK store was allocated 2 boxes and sold very quickly. I was a store manager at the time and we shifted ours on release day. They were availble from mail order and the sleeve was often folded inside the box so the box could be shipped with an address label attached.
Uk mail order shifted them across the whole UK market, i don't know how about the US.

Fun, totally irrelevant fact about me: My laptop lives on a corner of the kitchen table, so if you want a sandwich, ask before I head downstairs, to the basement, where all my gaming/painting stuff lives.

Less fun, but more relevant, information: I have copies of WD 216-290 on the shelf (Jan ’97-Mar -04). If you have a question about something from that era, and can narrow it down to within a few issues, I’ll go check it out and report. I’m not going to sift through the whole shelf looking for a vague obscure reference, but with focus I’ll pull a few WDs to look something up.

Cheers,

That and the Ulthwe Strike Force couldn't field anything bigger than a Vyper, so it's not one of those.

I don't recall seeing this box at all, but given it was early 3rd that doesn't surprise me.
