They're to represent pieces of gear called "Mad Traps" in this case.

Basically we don't know why they're doing such an influx of them now, with the addition of Tinbots into boxed sets.

They're not bad, and some are pretty nice, but I was OK with tokens to represent them.

It sometimes feels as if they're taking up the space for a 'proper model' in a 'proper box set' sometimes though.

But not here - unless the price on DF6 is higher now than the others?

the chibi cow/goats are just a bonus

i really like what they have done with these Dire Foes boxes...
between them and the HVT minis, it has been a good time for non-standard military models...

The concept art is very definitely cow-like but the sculpt/paint not so much sadly. They actually looked cooler in the concept art i think

The madtraps have a feline look, to my eyes. I think it would have been neat if they had continued with the pig motif which they started with the Yu Jing HVT. (The chibi pig was why I got that mini. That, and to have 4th civvie. Angus is 'technically' a civvie.) This DF6 civvie is a much better one than Angus though, so he can go back to being my machinist proxy.

I think this is an attempt to re-connect with Infinity's Manga/Anime roots. I don't see the inclusion of Madtraps as any different than the inclusion of CrazyKoalas or Fast Pandas. As long as they don't displace a 'real' mini ( Yes, Janissary tinbot, you.)

Just to reiterate my point that I kinda prefer the concept art over the finished result which is indeed less cow-like.
