Hello Folks! Im a new player and choosing army..im think about Space Marines and have some questions.
1) is space marine fun to play? alot game options/tactics?
2) im going to target 750-1000p tournaments for newbies. Where i can find some competitive rosters for that range?
3) any other army recommendation?
p.s visually i like orkz, but i hear they very weak now and its a bad idea for new player :(

1) Most options of any codex, cookiecutter army anyone can do well with
2) DO NOT netlist in a newbie tournament, good way to no make any friends, try reading the codex and pick what you think will work, it's a learning experience!
3) Orks are really wacky and fun, I would recomend them if you're playing to have fun. If you're going to netlist and be TFG then play eldar, tau or crons.

I love playing space marines. There are a lot of strategies to try

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Marines have tons of variety and options; go with whatever suits your style.

And don't sell orks short; at the 750-1000 point level, we do pretty well!

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the particulate.

1) Space marines are fun to play. At least for me. Different people like different things though.
2) More important then the list at newbie level is a solid grasp of the rules and the game. Don’t forget stuff, keep an eye on the mission/objectives, and don’t screw up. Any special rules/restrictions for your tournament?
3) Generally you should go with the army you like. You are going to spend a lot of time and money on them, so it should be something you enjoy. Also, consider how competitive your local meta is. For a bunch of guys playing at a friendly/semi-competitive level, everyone can make a decent list. Once the cheese comes out and people start making the most viscous list they can, then the pack starts to spread out a bit.

There are as many marine lists as there are players. Which one to use depends a lot on what you want. My general recommendation to to keep an eye on the formations, and go with either drop pods or bikes if you want to be competitive.
