This is my first attempt at a 30k army. I have some of the tanks that crossover to 40k and I'm going to slowly build up the 30k only models. I don't really know if this will stand a chance in 30k. All heavy bolters are shrapnel rounds which cause pinning.

Hq - Praetor, battlesmith, poweraxe, meltabomb = 155 pts

El - Contemptor, twin heavy bolter, chainfist, meltagun = 200pts

Tr - 10 tacticals, combat blades, rhino with pintle heavy bolter = 225pts

Tr - 10 tacticals, combat blades, rhino with pintle heavy bolter = 225pts

Tr - 10 tacticals, combat blades, = 175pts

Tr - 10 tactical support, 10 volkite caliver = 225pts

Fa - Dreadclaw drop pod = 100pts

HV - Vindicator laser destroyer = 130pts

HV - Vindicator laser destroyer = 130pts

HV - 10 Iron Havocs, 10 autocannons = 310pts

HV - Sicaran battle tank, side heavy bolters = 155pts

My rite of battle lets me make a charge after rapid firing my bolters so I figured the combat blades would be good. All my heavy bolters cause pinning so I tried to max them out. The Dreadclaw could transport the Contemptor or the walking tactical squad depending on the game. I figured the Volkite squad could camp and cover the field along with the Iron Havocs. The Iron Havocs are more of a fluff choice since they are on the first page of the IW description in book 3, but 20 Autocannon shots with tank hunter and -1 to cover saves doesn't sound to bad. The unit is expensive as heck though.

Just a note, unless IW are different, heavy bolters can't be taken in standard Tactical Squads? Only Veteran Tacticals can have special or heavy weapons.

They/them

In the tactical squads the heavy bolter is on the rhino. Who knew you could take a heavy bolter on a rhino. Did I read that wrong in book one?

no, I do believe that's correct, though I would make that more obvious on your list.

You are right. I fixed the list. Also I found I forgot to add the chainfist for the Contemptor which brings me over by 10pts.

Holy Terra.

I'm a fan of those Volkite Calivers. Their deflagrate rule makes them amazing against infantry, and s6 is good to. I run 2 5man squads (Raven Guard Mobility) and they are awesome.
