Hello, here we go again.
I have been thinkering with starting a new army and sice the stormtroopers are by far the coolest infantry in the game and i already own the flyers and knight.
So why not make a scion army. I am aiming to make it Bound, so if its unbound please make suggestions to change it.

But i was wondering if i can take the mont´ka formation with tempestus or are they only for cadia?
If not i can probably use some sort of FW flyer like the vulture or something.

So any tips or changes, ofc staying with the Tempestus theme.

As long as a Formation isn't just a single unit, anyone can just add one into their army. So yes, your list is a battle forged list.

As to improvements, other than not taking tempestus, not really. You'd be better served taking a bunch of command squads from the Mont'ka book so they can order themselves to ignore cover with their melta or plasma.

If its a single unit, its most likely not a Formation. If by some chance it is a Formation, there is no rule against adding it to your army.

Yeah, there is. An example is the deathmarks or flayed ones from the necron decurion. They're an auxiliary and part of a Formation, but aren't a Formation on their own. Same for a unit of Drones in a hunter contingent. Many people confuse an auxiliary choice with being a stand alone Formation. It needs to have the little Formation symbol in the top corner, or it's not a plug & play deal.

The only exceptions that spring to mind are imperial knights and possibly a lord commisar or a CCS from the Guard decurion in Mont'ka.

Be'lakor and cypher sort of count, but they require a hq slot and have restrictions on which army can take them.

The tempestus don't have any single squad formations. The only things that have anything close to that are any of the books with the decurion like detachments. That said the different assassins could be considered a formation if you wanted since they can only be taken alone in a single detachment or as the formation for all four.

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted
I dont paint quickly

Those have nothing to do with formations

My original post was poorly worded on reflection, but aimed at the majority of people who seem to see any auxiliary as a Formation. The forum is littered with examples of this. I shall attempt to be more clear in the future.

Being a choice in the Decurion (or any of the 'super detachments' such as the Gladius, etc.) does not make a unit a Formation. In order to be a Formation, they must be noted as such on their datasheet. Deathmarks, Flayed Ones and the various options in the 'Star-God' auxiliary choice are never Formations.
