Is there a reason in the fluff for not allowing them to take it in game? Surely the members of the chapter that know the most about it should be able to wear it, a servo harness or conversion beamer on a terminator would look cool too

I know you used to be able to take Terminator armor, way back when. I almost made one for the command squad for a Deathwing army in 3rd/4th.

No reason at all, other than that it's clumsy and bulky, and your techpriest might need to climb inside an engine at the drop of a hat - but that's generally what mechandendrites are for anyway.

Their Artificer Armor coupled with various augmetics lend them as much bulk and protection as Terminator Armor. They just don't get the Invulnerable Save.

So then it doesn't lend them as much protection?

I would imagine that it has something to do with their typical battlefield role. They shouldn't be directly engaging the enemy, so TDA isn't really necessary. Support personnel often have lighter arms and armor to allow them to perform their support roles more efficiently. I still think a Techmarine in TDA would be completely badass, tho.

Kan doesn't appreciate your backtalk.

I always thought it'd be a fun conversion to add the servo arm to a suit of TDA (this was before servo harnesses existed).

Why waste such a valuable, revered tech piece like a TDA system on a lowly servant of Mars. A captain has the necessary honour and awesome to properly honour its Machine spirit.

Also, why does a Techmarine need the best armour in the galaxy to reload a Rhino's Stormbolter?

Welcome to 40k class 101.

NO part of the fluff for this game was well thought out.

They take pizza bagels and enter plazma reactors with them. That's the reason why TDA was invented in the first place. To withstand the heat of reheating pizza bagels.

I find irony in that Obliterators are suppose to be mutant techmarines, but they clearly wore Terminator Armor in their past lives.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Techmarines just really wanted to have terminator armor.

New head canon: refractor fields actually cause horrendous long-term health problems. Which is fine on guardsmen who have a pretty limited shelf life. Not that they mention this to the guys they give the refractor fields to. Inquisitors are sworn into this relatively-common-to-inquisitors-but-secret-to-everyone-else knowledge and thus either choose not to use refractor fields or else are forbidden from using them by higher-ranking inquisitors because an inquisitor is considered too valuable an asset to allow him to poison himself.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

even more arbitrarily, my librarian can take a storm shield if I give him terminator armor but not if he stays in power armor. I really wish GW would open the armory more at least for the HQs.

Money. They want you to buy their expensive Finecast model and scratch build a shield instead of awhole PA model from the Grey Knight and Vanguard box.
