Any ideas why this might be happening on my resin models? I washed them before spraying. Would spraying them in the cold have caused this? Would putting too thick a layer on? I think I did both...

Did you wash them off with a degreaseer?

did you rinse and let them dry completely?

did you let your spray primer cure?

I never had problems priming in the cold. Army painter primer is seems weird though, It seems like it sprays out A LOT of paint.

It's a yes to all desubots questions. Will try again soon having left spray can indoors and will aim for a lighter coverage

Did you shake the living hell out of the can? It takes a solid 2 minutes to do it right

Yup lotsa shaking ...

Is it better to have a thin coat were out have missed some areas or a thicker one.wbich covers all the model?

Apply multiple thin coats not one thick coat. If you miss some areas no big deal, either use black/white to cover it, or use paint on primer to fix it.

If your used to GW sprays there is a bit of a learning curve with army painter - it is much much thicker and requires much lighter sprays. I also find it tends to leave a bumpy surface if you spray too far away from the model.

Never sprayed before but leaning more and more to the too thick hypothesis

Will try again at some point

Thanks all for the help.

Do you have a picture? Spraying paint too thick shouldn't make it flake off, it'll give a poor finish and obscure detail, it shouldn't be flaking off though.
