I'd like to discuss your favorite books, mine is gaunts ghosts, soul drinkers, and the heresy books.
I'd also like to know if their are any books written from the point of view of the orks.

There is a comic book named Deffsquadron that is written from the point of view of the orks and it is glorious.

The Gothic War dueology (if that's a word) is really awesome. Great space battles/tactics plus plenty of ship-to-ship boarding actions.

The captain is cool headed, cunning and lucky. But there is also the "under world" of the imperial navy ships where murders and criminals live feeding the guns of the ships in rough conditions so it explains very well the goings on of a imperial ship.

Its kind of the only books of its kind so far (that I am aware of) and I really hope they make more like it or continue the series of captain Semper (and his henchman, can't recall the name now - while ago since I read it)

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."

Here is a link to the details of that series: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gothic_War_(Novel_Series)

I am a huge space marines and HH fan, but these two books are right up there for me : )

I don't know why, but Legion of the Damned by Rob Sanders is an overlooked and often criticized novel that I keep coming back to once every while. Out of all the BL books, this one's story seems the most engaging.

I liked it, the legion couldn't have been done any differently without destroying the mystery that surrounds them. Anything by Rob Sanders is generally good.

If you like these BattleFleet Gothic books, try the short story Mortal Fuel, then read Relentless. I agree with his suggestion Execution hour is one of my favorite books, tied with Guns of Tanith.

-Me: Don't tell the commissar but i left my Imperial Infantrymans Uplifting Primer at home, but I do carry a folded Texas flag behind my front plate.
-Friend: Texas flag gives you AV14 all around.

Jury-Rig - makeshift repairs or temporary contrivances, made with only the tools and materials that happen to be on hand, the Machine Spirit is not pleased......

Evil Sun Rising by Guy Haley is told from the Orks perspective the whole way through. Surprisingly legible.

100% this as well as the prequel, Engine of Mork. Both are excellent and do as good, if not a better job of portraying an Ork perspective than Deff Skawdron.

I love the mechanicum novel

For Orks, I don't know if it counts since it is not a novel but the "WAAARGH ORKS' book is nice. It has quite a few ork short stories in it goes into depth on ork kultur and it is filled with great art.
But you might not like it if you like the more modern take on orks.

[Edit] This is the "WAAARGH ORKS" book . t isn't codex like book its is more of a oldskool fluff book.

Well, if you're looking at the perspective of orks, I'd recommend the Ork Codex or the Waaagh! Ghazghkull supplement.

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.
