No one ever seemed to take him seriously as an actor, even when he did a decent job. Most seemed to cast him simply to use his name as marketing material for a really crappy low budget screen play. I thought he did a good job in Walking Tall and that was a pretty decent movie. The Run Down too.
I enjoyed his performance in "Pain and Gain". I could see him doing well in a 'super' role- either villain or hero.

They have had some stand-out antagonists (well, Loki at any rate ), but it's definitely an area I think they ought to explore more. Not necessarily needing to be more graphic or adult, I really don't see the point/appeal of covering everything in blood and swearing just for the sake of it, but there are some interesting stories to be told.
It's less "make everything bloody and sexual just for the sake of it" and more along the lines of "stop eliminating any and all realism from Marvel films". I understand that it's a superhero movie, and, thus, disbelief must be suspended for a lot of breaches of physical laws and the like, but it just get ridiculous when you have things like a Company of soldiers storming a Hydra compound with next to zero casualties (captain MURICA one), a guy with a bow-and-arrow is running through a wall of bullets without dying, and well-trained assassins are engaging in huge firefights on purpose (Black Widow in Age of Ultron). These kinds kinds of things are why a supervillain movie might make more sense, as you could avoid such things as Stormtrooper aim (nobody gives a crap about henchmen, after all, and Dr. Doom/Magneto/Green Goblin have armor/superpowers with which to not die), mortal assassins acting like Space Marines, etc.
To quote a fictional character... "Let's make this fun!"

Isn't all this because its a superhero movie not a documentary?
What part (any part) of Batman or Superman is actually realistic? Its the same level of realism as the Marvel films -maybe the best way to think about it is that they have different laws of physics in their universe - rule of cool is a reality - that sort of thing................
As long as the movie universe is internally consistent its fine IMO

He's a genius inventor, and a master manipulator and planner - well, to a point.
Plus, he's got a great look too!
He's like Marvel's version of an evil Batman!
(Heh!)
All kidding a aside, I'd love to see Mysterio in a film, with or without the rest of the original Sinister Six too.
Or even a modified one with a proper version of the Green Goblin...
"me of all people..?" What have I done to deserve that?
Mysterio is one of my favourite villains ever, he's got zero super powers and still manages to feth with people. Not to mention what he accomplished in Old Man Logan.
Killing Joke would make a great film, but at the same time I'm inclined to say no Hamill, no deal. For a Joker story as iconic as that, there's really no one else that could carry it....
Oh, what I would give for a live action Hamill Joker vs Conroy Batman film...

I was only kidding!
And I'll admit, I thought you were trying to tweak me with that "Mysterio" shoutout as I am, of course, Dakka Dakka's Most Well Known Mysterio Fan*!
*Apparently, not all that well known!

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I'm reserving judgement until Suicide Squad as what I've seen Leto doing as the Joker looks pretty darn sinister. I think he would be great for the transition from bumbling magician/comedian wanna-be to the Clown Prince of Crime.
